Một số hình tư tưởng do Thánh Đoàn đặt ở đó để cho con người khám phá ra; một số là các hình tư tưởng của con người được tạo ra chung quanh các ý tưởng; một số là các lý tưởng rất cổ xưa đã bị vứt bỏ nhưng vẫn còn tồn tại như là các hình tư tưởng; một số thì hoàn toàn mới mẻ và do đó chưa đủ sức mạnh, nhưng có sức thu hút nhất. Tất cả đều do con người tạo ra ở giai đoạn này hay giai đoạn khác của sự phát triển cá nhân và chủng tộc. Trong số đó có nhiều hình tư tưởng chính là lớp vỏ (shell) của các quan niệm bị phá vỡ từ lâu; một số khác còn phôi thai; một số thì tĩnh tại và ổn định; nhiều cái đang trong tiến trình đi xuống từ các phân cảnh trực giác; một số ít đang được chiếu rạng bằng ánh sáng trong suốt của linh hồn và đang sẵn sàng biểu hiện. Một số lớn các hình tư tưởng khác đang tan rã. Một số trong các hình tư tưởng này hay là các ý tưởng được biểu hiện, có bản chất hủy diệt, do loại chất liệu tạo thành chúng. Những loại khác có tính chất kiến tạo. Tất cả đều được nhuốm màu bởi một loại năng lượng cung nào đó. Tất nhiên một số lớn các hình tư tưởng này được kiến tạo nhờ hoạt động của cõi giới phàm ngã; các hình tư tưởng khác ở trong tiến trình cấu tạo nhờ sự môi giới của linh hồn, cũng như nhờ hoạt động chung của cả hai biểu hiện này. Do đó, nhận thức đúng là thiết yếu cho mỗi thể trí, tác động một cách chính xác. Người tìm đạo phải học cách phân biệt giữa:
is also an atmosphere or area of conscious contact wherein thoughtforms of all kinds are to be found. Some of them are placed there by the Hierarchy for man's finding; some of them are men's thoughtforms, built around ideas; some of them are very ancient ideals and have been discarded, but still persist as thoughtforms; some of them are entirely new, and therefore are not yet potent, but most attractive. All of them have been created by man at some stage or another of his individual and racial development. Many of them are the shells of long exploded concepts; still others are embryonic; some of them are static and stable; many are in process of descent from intuitional levels; a few are still illumined by the clear light of the soul and are ready for embodiment. A large number of other thoughtforms are in process of disintegration. Some of these forms or embodied ideas are of a destructive nature, owing to the type of matter of which they are formed. Others are constructive. All of them are coloured by some ray energy. A large number of these forms are necessarily built through the activity of the world of personality; others are in process of construction through the agency of the soul, as well as through the joint activity of both these manifestations. Right perception is therefore essential for each mind, functioning correctly. Aspirants must learn to distinguish between:

b. Between that which is embodied, that which is in process of being embodied, and that which is awaiting disintegration.
