The outstanding characteristic of spirit (or energy) is the life-principle, that mysterious something which causes all things to be and to persist. The outstanding characteristic of the soul (or of force) is light. It brings into visibility that which exists.
Đặc tính quan trọng của vật chất sống là cái “nền tảng” tiềm ẩn trong cơ thể hữu hình. Nó tạo nên hình thể thực sự. Ở đây, cần ghi nhớ rằng cơ sở của trọn cả giáo huấn huyền môn và mọi hiện tượng trong các bầu thế giới, là câu phát biểu:

Khi linh hồn (hay mãnh lực) tự rút lui khỏi phương diện vật chất (ngoại thể hữu hình), thì hình thể đó không còn được thấy. Nó biến mất, và tạm thời tiêu tan.
