The sign on the seventh house cusp, the ruler of the house and any planets in it, these colour our attitude to marriage, formal relationships and one-on-one partnerships. Depending upon this energy combination, we will be attracted to certain types of people and relationships and be repulsed by others. If there is a Capricorn-Saturn theme for instance, we will be more conservative in our tastes, but respond very differently and be more progressive if there is an Aquarian-Uranus emphasis.
The seventh house is a major training ground for inter-personal relationships. Those who have insecurities in this area, who are dysfunctional, who project their “stuff” onto the partner, seeing only what they expect to see - they are destined to meet people who will trigger their fears and respond in the expected negative manner. There is a cause-effect aspect at work. This is also the house of “open-enemies”, and such unions often end up as open warfare, eventual divorce and a dispute over money and property-eighth house matters.
The overall spiritual goal of this house is to help us develop relationship skills so we can create harmonious unions with others and resolve conflict situations. It teaches us to be mature and loving individuals, capable of building healthy, whole and beautiful relationships. This will help attract soul mates from the same soul- group, those we are in deeper harmony with.
