A3. Aspects, Planet Patterns, Major Planet Configurations.
To help ground what has been taught so far, Winston Churchill's chart is examined. In the chart, we look firstly at the aspects. Students should verify for themselves which aspects are in play between the various planets and also with the ascendant and MC. Then the arrangements the planets make are examined. We look to see if they conform to any of the recognised Planet Patterns (Bowl, Bucket, etc.). Finally, we look for any Major Planet Configurations that have been formed between the plancts. For example, such as a T-square or Grand Trine.
1. Aspects
- a. There is one conjunction (☌) between Mars and Jupiter.
- b. There are six semi-squares (⚺) between Moon-Mars, Sun and Jupiter, Venus-Saturn, the ascendant with Mercury and Uranus, and Uranus with the MC.
- c. There are six sextiles (⚹) between the Sun and Saturn; Venus with Mars and Jupiter; Mars-Uranus; the MC with the Moon and Neptune.
- d. There are five squares (□) Mercury with Saturn and Uranus; Venus with the ascendant; Uranus and Pluto, and the Ascendant and MC.
- e. There are seven trines (△) The Moon with Venus and Neptune; Sun and Uranus; Venus with Uranus and Neptune; Mars and Saturn; and Jupiter with the MC.
- f. There are three inconjuncts (⚻) between Pluto with Venus and Jupiter; and Neptune and the ascendant.
- g. There are four oppositions (⚯) between Mercury and Pluto; Venus and the MC; Jupiter and Neptune; and Saturn and Uranus.
2. Planet Patterns. Churchill's chart just fits into the “Bucket” pattern. “A single planet (two in this case) opposes all planets on the opposite side. The energy generated by the large group of planets will try to find release through the single planet. It is crucial therefore that the function symbolised by this planet is working well, or congested energy, anger and frustration will result.” Pluto and Neptune are the handles of the pattern. They indicate that he was a very idealistic leader (Aries), and powerfully stubborn and driven in pursuing his goals (Taurus).
3. Major Planetary Configurations.
- a. There is a T-square between Mercury, Pluto and Uranus; a second one between Uranus, Saturn and Mercury; and a third one between the Ascendant, MC and Venus.
- b. There is a Grand Trine between the Moon, Neptune and Venus.
- c. There is a Yod between Pluto, Venus and Jupiter.
