Hard aspects reflect our inner conflicts, which if not healed underlic our life problems. Easy aspects reflect our comfortable expressions. The average person's chart has a mixture of hard and easy aspects.

• Sometimes people have more easy aspects than hard - for instance, may have two Grand-Trines and no squares. Life is casier for such people. But sometimes, because life is so easy, they may squander their talents and make nothing of themselves.
• It seems that we need a few squares - disappointments with life and ourselves, difficulty in relating with others, rejection and hard-times; to help us make the most of our innate gifts, to strive for goals and to grow psychologically. Two positive keywords for the square, are “incentive” and “drive”. Life rejections and disappointments can provide the fuel or incentive that drives us to change - and change is the spiritual goal.
• We are all evolving in consciousness, are expanding our talents and capabilities. View squares as opportunities for growth. Some charts are so laden with squares, there is a Grand Cross. This indicates a psyche that is constantly at war with itself and with others, so that crisis after crisis seems to dog the person's footsteps.

• Movie Director Woody Allen has two Grand-Crosses marked out by two different sets of circles (dots and whole circles).

• In one cross, one point touches the MC. Through hard work he achieved his movie-directing goals, and his films have been widely acclaimed. But he destroyed his marriage to Mia Farrow and family life when he covertly began an affair with his adopted daughter Soon-Yi Previn. One corner of this cross touches fourth house planets and another touches the cusp of the seventh house of marriage.

• The second Grand Cross includes Venus, Mars, Uranus, Pluto, contributing to a nature that has unusual and obsessive desires. Mars (passion) is in the fifth house of children.

• Many of us have Grand-Crosses and most of us use the energies in a constructive and healthy way.

When reading aspects.

• 1. Generally, do conjunctions first, because planets in conjunction work together as a unit.
• 2. Then you can either read the hard aspects first, and finish with easy aspects, so that the message finishes on a positive note.
• 3. Or you can read them as they appear on the chart grid, working from the inner planets, outwards. But in this method, still finish each section on a positive note.
