6. Jupiter Aspects - Expansion of Consciousness.
Jupiter-Saturn. Expansiveness and discipline unite. These forces arc diamctrically opposite - Jupiter expands, Saturn contracts. It can result in feeling torn between a need for freedom and one's duties and responsibilities. Positively applied (the easy aspects), optimism is tempered by common sense, giving the ability to progress forwards nicely within a structured system. This combination is ideal for business and religious explorations. Hard aspects can manifest as a sense of fluctuating between feelings of confidence and failure, of moving forwards only to be blocked. The key is to gain confidence in one's own abilities by trying and testing them in life experience - taking on little projects first and gradually building up to those that are larger. Self-respect will be gained and respect from others.
Jupiter-Uranus. Expansiveness and independence unite. There is enormous energy and enthusiasm for all that is new and wonderful, a desire to explore the unknown and untried and to see what is on the other side of life. This enthusiasm for wider understanding and for independence in expression, extends to higher study, religion, philosophy, esoterica and travel. But the hard aspects give an abrasive touch. An urge to change the world to one's design is not applied wisely and there is impatience and a lack of persistence to see through any changes. For all aspects, there is a restless spirit that wants to travel far. At its highest potentially, it enables us to find true wisdom and knowledge about the mysteries of life.
Jupiter-Neptune. Expansiveness and spiritual-sensitivity unite. This combination expands the urge for exploration and discovery in the spiritual or metaphysical realms. It broadens empathy and compassion and a desire to heal and save the suffering in the world. It also gives talent for music and the arts, the ability to tell stories that can transport listeners to other worlds. Hard aspects and the conjunction however, indicate that emotionalism, delusion and unrealistic expectations will expand. If life is being viewed through “rose- coloured glasses”, judgement and the ability to discriminate will be impaired. The antidote is to stop dreaming and be real about life, to keep one's feet on the ground and not get carried away with unrealistic dreams. For all combinations, there will be a call to serve others in one of the caring or spiritual areas.
Jupiter-Pluto. Expansiveness and wilfulness unite, giving an enthusiasm to live life to the fullest. Whatever is done, will be done in a big way. If the ego is kept under control, much can be achieved. There is leadership skill and a style that will be popular because it is characterised by warm enthusiasm and encouragement. This is especially so with the easy aspects. Problems can arise with the conjunction and hard aspects. If the ego expands instead of the heart, grandiose but unrealistic plans can arise. A huge dissatisfaction with society may motivate too radical or destructive actions, bringing a formidable backlash. To get the best out of this combination, to achieve what one's heart is set on - keep a humble spirit.
Jupiter-Vesta. Expansiveness and purification unite. This combination indicates a need to rein in self- indulgent activities which waste time and energy that stand in the way of achieving higher life or spiritual goals. This is especially so with the hard aspects. These emotions and impulses need to be purified. Dedication to a self-development program that will help balance these excesses is required. Easy aspects can give innate wisdom about how to conserve one's enthusiasms sensibly and how to use them to the best advantage in life. Teaching these skills to others is also a possibility,
Jupiter-Juno. Expansiveness and marriage unite. The ability to create a happy marriage or partnership is enhanced, because the nature is easy-going, warm-hearted, generous and there is laughter (which heals). Relationships will be an adventure and partners will be friends as well as lovers. Greater effort will be required however, with the hard aspects. Excesses and selfish indulgences can spoil an otherwise harmonious union. Commitments may be avoided because they interfere with freedom and pleasure-seeking pastimes. For a stable partnership, greater practicality and discipline may be required.
Jupiter-Ceres. Expansiveness and nurturing unite. Generally, early life will have been supportive, with parents being on hand to give encouragement and praise. The household will have rung out with laughter and the hustle and bustle of people going enthusiastically about their business and on adventures and travel. This early start to life will boost self-esteem and self-confidence. Hard aspects can indicate feeling alone or rejected because parents were too preoccupied or attention was spasmodic so that ongoing support could not be relied on. But overall, this is a fortunate combination and indicates trust in the beneficence of the universe to provide.
Jupiter-Pallas. Expansiveness and mental-creativity unite. This combination combines intelligence with wisdom, a most fortunate aspect or ability to have and one that when it is well-directed, will bring success in any area of life. The mind is able to soar into the realms of philosophy, religion etc., to learn from what has been studied and to apply what has been grasped effectively in life. Though this still holds true for the hard aspects, an element of dogma or rigidity in beliefs may exist and a tendency to preach to people will be resented. In this case, the challenge is to expand the mind and be more accepting of other philosophies or beliefs.
Jupiter-Chiron. Expansiveness and healing-wisdom unite. There is a natural generosity of nature and understanding for the less fortunate in life. Another attribute is an ability to encompass other people's personal philosophies without feeling threatened. There is also an attraction to healing, success in such endeavours and an ability to teach the chosen modality. Wisdom will come by learning from life's adversities, by going on a search for inner healing and for answers (especially with the hard aspects). This in turn will provide the necessary training to become a teacher of philosophy, of healing and of life.
Jupiter-Nodes. Expansion and spiritual-progression unite. Jupiter conjunct the north-node and easy aspects indicates that it will be easy to follow a pathway to one's higher aspirations and goals. Life will boost such efforts and bring wise teachers when needed to direct us to the next stage of the journey. In turn, we could inspire others to see the big picture and guide them forwards on their journey. Although this still holds true with a conjunction to the south-node and with hard aspects, indulgences from the past have to be cut away first. Time and energies wasted on excesses and life frivolities bind to the past and these should be freed so they can be redirected towards higher life goals.
Jupiter-Asc. Expansiveness and new beginnings unite. This is a fortunate combination. It gives an expansive and benevolent personality, good humour and generosity of spirit that makes it easy to move forwards into life. Wisdom will be gained through travel, study, teaching, religion or philosophy so that one may become known as a seeker and teacher of knowledge and higher matters. In retum, goodwill, benevolence and life abundance will be attracted. The downside with all aspects, is that these gifts and opportunities may be wasted, abandoned in the search for self-indulgent life pleasures. Big ideas and grandiose schemes may come to naught because of an unwillingness to put in the hard work required to ground such endeavours. But generally, there is a blessing over the life and good fortune often flows.
Jupiter-MC. Expansiveness and higher-goals unite. This combination makes it relatively easy to achieve one's higher goals in life, to gain recognition for one's professional or other life achievements. Hard aspects can distort perception so that exaggerations occur, things are seen in a rosier light than they are in actuality, or there is an over-estimation of one's talents. This will delay the desired success. However, Jupiter is always forgiving and with a little reset and adjustment, goals can be achieved.
