Exercise 9: use cards to help you develop your interpretive skill.
On the following pages are cards with the astrology symbols drawn upon them. Photocopy the cards onto light card. On the back of the sign cards, write SIGNS. On the back of the planet cards, write PLANETS. On the back of the house cards write HOUSES. On the back of the aspect cards write ASPECTS.
Use the cards to help become fluid in your readings. As you do the previous exercises, extend your practice by using the cards. For instance:
- When doing Exercise 1, “Read Planets in Signs”, select randomly one planet card and one sign card and read them. Do this repeatedly until you become fluent with putting the symbols together. As you do
- Exercise 2, ““Read Planets in Signs in aspect to other Planets in Signs,” select a planet card, a sign card and an aspect card, and then another planet, sign and aspect card. Then read them. When doing
- Exercise 3, “Read Planets, in Signs, in houses,” select one planet card, one sign card and one house card; then another planet, sign and house card. Then read them. Do this for all the exercises.
All these exercises and use of cards are designed to help students develop their astrological interpretive skills. At the end of it all, what makes the difference between being a good astrologer and a great one, is ongoing practice - reading charts! The more fluidly we can connect the symbols to the qualities they represent, the easier and faster it becomes to read a chart.
