Astrology now deals primarily with 38|00:06:14|730|00:06:24|630the personality for whom the horoscope may be cast—that is, the four elementals: mind, emotions, 39|00:06:24|630|00:06:32|190body, and the composite elemental that we call the personality—and with the events of the personality 40|00:06:32|190|00:06:42|350life. Remember, there are also events of the soul life, and with these the astrology—at least of the 41|00:06:42|350|00:06:52|9501930s when this book was written—did not deal. When, through meditation and service, plus the discipline of the lunar bodies of the 43|00:07:00|030|00:07:10|250personality, a man becomes consciously and definitely under his soul ray, then he comes 44|00:07:10|250|00:07:20|590as definitely under the influence of one or other of the seven solar systems, as they focus their 45|00:07:20|590|00:07:33|850energy through one or other of the constellations and subsequently one or other of the seven sacred 46|00:07:33|850|00:07:42|410planets. Now, there's so much hidden in this statement. What are the seven solar systems? 47|00:07:42|410|00:07:53|450Well, they are sometimes called the seven solar systems of which ours is one, and different 48|00:07:53|450|00:08:02|050theorists have different ideas about these seven solar systems. I tend to prefer the idea that there 49|00:08:02|050|00:08:11|850are seven affiliated solar systems, each with its own particular solar Logos, and of these seven our 50|00:08:11|850|00:08:18|790solar system is one. And sometimes we call this a Sirian system. So together these seven would make 51|00:08:18|790|00:08:28|250a kind of constellation, a constellation we have no name for because we're so close to it. Other 52|00:08:28|250|00:08:36|450theorists think that our solar system is, in fact, a constellation, and again, of course, D.K. is 53|00:08:36|450|00:08:44|070blending, merging and blending terms like “constellation” and “solar system.” He often 54|00:08:44|070|00:08:53|090does this. And that, in fact, our system is a constellation and there are great constellations— 55|00:08:53|090|00:09:01|970six others of them—making seven. So for the moment, I prefer the idea that there 61|00:09:51|270|00:10:00|430are seven major stars, of which ours is one. They are relatively close. They include such stars as 62|00:10:01|590|00:10:15|510Sirius, Alpha and Beta Centauri, Procyon, Altair, and others about which theorists do debate. And then, you know, the way I would consider this 81|00:12:50|650|00:12:57|050is that after the constellations would come the signs of the zodiac—not the constellations of the 82|00:12:57|050|00:13:03|790zodiac, but the signs of the zodiac—through which the different planets express. He doesn't say there will be 12 rays, although a lot of people 97|00:15:08|850|00:15:16|310have jumped the gun on that and said there are. But if there are 12 rays, then certainly five of them 98|00:15:16|310|00:15:27|930are subsets of five of the major rays, and so probably… We can't say which ones they would 99|00:15:27|930|00:15:37|930be, but just like there are 12 notes in the octave of the piano, seven of them are major and 100|00:15:37|930|00:15:47|670the black keys are considered minor: seven and five - seven major, five minor. So eventually there 101|00:15:47|670|00:15:56|650will be 12 sacred planets. And will this come through the discovery of two planets which are 102|00:15:56|650|00:16:05|270still undiscovered? Quite possibly. The planet that the Sun veils, probably a non-sacred planet. The 103|00:16:05|270|00:16:10|770planet that the Moon veils, a fourth ray planet. Just that the Sun veils the second ray planet. 104|00:16:10|770|00:16:18|430They have not been discovered. But what probably will also happen is that three of our non-sacred 105|00:16:18|430|00:16:30|250planets will become sacred eventually. So let's just anticipate that Earth, Mars, and Pluto will 106|00:16:30|250|00:16:39|110become sacred, and then two other planets will be discovered. And they, even though non-sacred at the 107|00:16:39|110|00:16:46|170moment, will become sacred. Our solar system, as you know, is one of seven. When we start having two stars or three stars, we get into the possibility of a constellation 110|00:17:04|910|00:17:16|630because not all constellations have to have seven or more stars. In a way, a system is a constellation 111|00:17:16|630|00:17:25|850of factors. A constellation means we bring things together into relationship, and they are thus 112|00:17:25|850|00:17:38|730constellated. So you see how it is: D.K., when he wants to blind and temporarily make penetration 113|00:17:38|730|00:17:46|150into these matters a little more difficult, he can easily go between words - system, systems, and 114|00:17:46|150|00:17:56|470constellations - and still be correct, because every constellation is a system of interrelated factors 115|00:17:56|470|00:18:08|430and every system is a grouping of constellated factors. Anyway, this is my interpretation. So a 116|00:18:08|430|00:18:14|750solar system, as you know… Our solar system is one of seven. And as I pointed out, if you look on page 117|00:18:16|890|00:18:24|450293 of “A Treatise on Cosmic Fire”… Let's… Let's go there. I'd like to be able to go there instantly, 118|00:18:24|450|00:18:36|050but, you know, I'm not there yet. So 293 is an important map, and the seven cosmic Logos consists 119|00:18:36|050|00:18:47|750of seven solar systems. So every one of those solar Logoi who embodies a solar system is bringing in 120|00:18:47|750|00:18:57|750a particular ray to our… to our particular solar system. And every one of our sacred planets is 121|00:18:57|750|00:19:05|590related to one of these solar systems. We might say that Jupiter is most related to our Sun and 122|00:19:05|590|00:19:12|590perhaps Venus most related to Sirius, and we could go on and try to make assignments. But they would 123|00:19:12|590|00:19:21|750be theoretical and interesting but not too practical at the moment. So anyway, our solar system, as you 124|00:19:21|750|00:19:32|810know, is one of seven. When a man has arrived at this point in evolution, birth months - that's a vague term, 125|00:19:32|810|00:19:41|370of course, because in a way the signs of the zodiac begin about… Each of them two-thirds through a 126|00:19:41|370|00:19:51|050particular month, so it's hard to use the term “month” to indicate a sign, and because there's always an 127|00:19:51|050|00:19:57|970overlap. You know, the month begins about ten days later than the sign begins. But anyway, when a man 128|00:19:57|970|00:20:04|750has arrived at this point in evolution, birth months, mundane astrology as applied to the three 129|00:20:04|750|00:20:11|170worlds only, and man in the three worlds, and the influences which play upon the form aspect become 130|00:20:11|170|00:20:17|970of less and less importance. Now, that doesn't mean they're not important, and we do have to deal with 131|00:20:18|550|00:20:27|490the personality as an instrument so that it can effectively express the soul. The circle of solar 132|00:20:27|490|00:20:39|750systems… Interesting circle… Words… Circle… Well, I suppose there's a cycle involved here. Ray cycles 133|00:20:39|750|00:20:47|630operate throughout the year, and I suppose if we were to look at the particular year of man, 134|00:20:49|210|00:20:57|330different rays would be active at different times. We don't have that particular cycle, but anyway, he 135|00:20:57|330|00:21:08|150calls it “the circle of solar systems.” And some theorists have thought that since the solar systems 136|00:21:08|150|00:21:15|290represent great constellations rather than solar systems, they are arranged somehow in a circle 137|00:21:16|430|00:21:25|250around a type of center which some have thought are the Pleiades. Well, I think the Pleiades are the 138|00:21:25|250|00:21:34|670wheel, but I think it can be established that it's difficult to look at the great constellations as 139|00:21:34|670|00:21:43|550a circle per se. Anyway, this circle of solar systems affects paramountly the soul, and it becomes the 140|00:21:43|550|00:21:54|830focal point of spiritual energies coming from great sources. This is a problem of the soul on 141|00:21:54|830|00:22:02|310its own plane. So we really know very little about the astrology of the soul on its own plane per se 142|00:22:02|310|00:22:10|590because we are not yet functioning primarily as souls upon the plane of soul. We're very much 143|00:22:10|590|00:22:16|870immersed in personality. This is the problem of the soul on its own plane: responsiveness to these 144|00:22:16|870|00:22:25|270types of energies, and of them the personality is totally unaware. Now there's a very interesting 145|00:22:25|270|00:22:31|670thing that there's a whole range of energies that the soul responds to of which the personality is 146|00:22:31|670|00:22:44|730unaware. Personality is unaware of an entire range of energies through which the soul responds, okay? 147|00:22:44|730|00:22:56|310Now, you know, by no means has what I said here exhausted what could be said or penetrated into 148|00:22:56|310|00:23:06|010these particular mysteries. We do have to search for the meaning of the word “circle,” and then we 149|00:23:06|010|00:23:13|470have to ask, what types of spiritual energies are these solar systems passing through them? And I 150|00:23:13|470|00:23:23|310think we could say they are passing through them: the energies of the great constellations, which are 151|00:23:23|310|00:23:35|070chakras within the system of the One about whom naught may be said, okay? The signs, which fall 152|00:23:35|070|00:23:46|070therefore into four categories of earth, water, fire, and air. And notice how he did that—he 153|00:23:46|070|00:23:52|970did them in order. He didn't say fire, earth, air, and water. He started from the lowest plane. In other 154|00:23:52|970|00:24:05|230words, fire, earth, air, and water is the way the signs proceed in the zodiac: fire—Aries, earth— 155|00:24:05|230|00:24:13|430Taurus, air—Gemini, water—Cancer. That's one way of listing the signs in order, but this is a different 156|00:24:13|430|00:24:21|990type of order. This has to do with the planes. So let's put that down: has to do with the planes, and 157|00:24:23|030|00:24:33|690the planes involved here are the plane of the senses, which is earth; the astral plane, which is 158|00:24:33|690|00:24:42|050water; the mental plane, which is fire; and the buddhi plane, which is air. So I think we can see that he 159|00:24:42|050|00:24:50|450certainly has a reason for how he did these. So the signs—again, he's saying, just like D.K. said in the 160|00:24:50|450|00:24:59|750astrology book (remember, we're in White Magic right now)—the signs have to do with the elements, and to 161|00:24:59|750|00:25:07|710quite a degree with the three worlds in which man lives. And from another point of view, we could 162|00:25:07|710|00:25:12|370stay entirely within the three worlds when we talk about the elements. We could do it this way. 163|00:25:12|370|00:25:21|290Here is a way of staying, okay—I'm going to say, here is a way of staying within the three lower 164|00:25:21|290|00:25:36|690worlds. In other words, earth is the physical plane; water is the astral plane; air is the lower mental 165|00:25:36|690|00:25:42|370plane; and fire is the higher mental plane. Now that's one way of looking at the elements and 166|00:25:42|370|00:25:51|870staying strictly within the three lower worlds. So these types of energies of the signs are concerning 167|00:25:51|870|00:25:58|030the man who lives below the diaphragm—in other words, he's working primarily through the solar 168|00:25:58|030|00:26:04|170plexus, through the sacral base of spine center—and of course, vitality of the spleen is involved, 169|00:26:04|170|00:26:13|890and many lesser centers as well that he (some of which he details in Esoteric Healing). Now this 170|00:26:13|890|00:26:27|210means most of humanity—maybe we could say 15% of humanity, something of that nature—has a mental 171|00:26:27|210|00:26:31|850focus (which does not mean they're mentally polarized—that's another thing, another and 172|00:26:31|850|00:26:39|030higher step that takes place after the second initiation). But, and all—and the rest of 173|00:26:39|030|00:26:45|050humanity, you know, is working largely through the solar plexus. The great bulk of humanity, I would 174|00:26:45|050|00:26:51|310say, and then the sacral center as well for a great majority—especially these days, when it's 175|00:26:51|310|00:26:58|590so stimulated because Uranus is coming in under Aquarius, and Uranus is one of the major rulers of 176|00:26:58|590|00:27:04|430the sacral center, as is the seventh ray, which is coming in in power. But we're talking about a more 177|00:27:04|430|00:27:10|930primitive relationship—a procreative relationship—to the sacral center. So anyway, the signs are 178|00:27:10|930|00:27:16|430concerning primarily the man who lives below the diaphragm, who utilizes the lower four centers. 179|00:27:18|430|00:27:22|890And he lists them: yes, center of a. The base of the spine. b. The sacral centre. c. The solar plexus centre. and d. The inner group of seven major or systemic energies… Again, that word “systemic”— 182|00:27:39|330|00:27:46|070you know, he didn't say “constellational,” but of course, you know, there are very intelligent 183|00:27:46|070|00:27:52|230theorists who think that this is so. As I call us all theorists in this respect, because, you know, we 184|00:27:52|230|00:28:01|730aren't out there among these great solar systems and constellations. We are little Earth beings who 185|00:28:01|730|00:28:11|750are lifting the mind, mostly the abstract mind, towards the heavens and trying to understand 186|00:28:11|750|00:28:20|410the great divine configuration that necessarily is theoretical, because although what we say may 187|00:28:20|410|00:28:27|610hang together under the law of correspondences, we have proven nothing, we have demonstrated nothing, 188|00:28:27|610|00:28:38|410we have expressed nothing of these great energies except in a very attenuated form. Maybe to my higher self, maybe to the Tibetan, maybe to someone who knows. So that rule eight for applicants to initiation tells us about two 207|00:31:26|730|00:31:34|950sets of sevens, which are chakras in man, and there's a greater seven ruling a lesser seven. The alta center—so that's at the base of the skull.
