Abstract

The human soul stands in this Life in indestructible connections with all finer beings and reciprocally acts upon these finer beings and receives impressions from them. One of the most important structural and fundamental relationships in our lives is that between the personality, the Soul and the Rainbow Bridge whose knowledge comes from the Ancient Teachings that enables us to pursue the finer understanding and contact with the Life Force. Though Truth is relative of one's inner voice but it goes hand in hand with threading the path. For a man to shine the Light, the personality must be ready to receive the presence of the soul. Only then can he say he identify, experience, and take responsibility for the Truth, because a Man cannot discover new oceans until he has the courage to lose sight of the shore. Esoteric Astrology is a humble scripture coming from higher circles because it reveals many secretes relating man to his universe. It speaks of Anthropogenesis and Cosmo-genesis. It gives many clues to the profound wisdom revealed by that great Master Christ. It unfolds great vistas of wisdom of the Heavens. It speaks of the celestial principles functioning in creation through the planetary bodies and constellations around planet Earth. It opens the investigator’s comprehension to Universal understanding.

Since the launch of the Russian Sputnik into orbit, interest in the stellar world has greatly increased, but this has not given man any insight into the working of the Divine Plan, or the necessary moral courage to face the trials and tribulations of everyday life. Therefore, there is need for a proper understanding of the rules regulating our universe and this cannot happen so long as occult sciences are not properly acknowledged and assigned proper importance among the other modem sciences. – [Introduction to Esoteric Astrology by Bepin Behari and Madhuri Behari page41, Chapter 4],

Context

Wisdom is ageless and impersonal. The intensity and the vastness of wisdom is dependent upon the vision of the observer. The point of view decides the nature of the horizon that surrounds the observer as a Mystery.

“The whole universe is only one, in the sense that it is one among the series of universes. A universe is a unity of wisdom in which there is a diversity of levels. What we see around us is a huge globe of space with the observer at its geometrical centre. The centre of consciousness of the observer is the key to unlock the secrets of wisdom.

By this process of unlocking, the individual pervades into the whole universe. Only when there is an individual, with the objectified self as the universe before him, then is the process of unfolding into wisdom. Therefore, the man plus the universe births the double unit called” wisdom. [Spiritual Astrology by E.K page13]

Chapter One – Introduction

Within the human etheric body there are to be found seven major force centres which are in the nature of distributing agencies and electrical batteries, providing dynamic force and qualitative energy to the man; they produce definite effects upon his outer physical manifestation. Through their constant activity his quality appears, his Ray tendencies begin to emerge and his point in evolution is clearly indicated. (Alice Bailey, Esoteric Astrology, page12).

Undeveloped humanity is primarily conditioned in its life and circumstances by the influence of the lesser zodiac and by the position of the planets in the twelve houses. Average intelligent humanity and those nearing the Path of Discipleship and upon the Probationary Path respond consciously to the planets, affecting their personalities; the Sun sign, as indicating life trends which are already established and which constitute the line of least resistance; and the rising sign in a small measure, indicating the life goal for that particular life cycle. It is true that man can be studied from different contexts but I think Healers will be granted the key to the true nature of a particular disease, through the knowledge of the rays and esoteric astrology, hence the essence of this compilation.

Chapter Two - The Houses

The houses are points of clear or unclear thoughts either from the angle of the Soul or the personality. “It is through the fields of activity signified by the houses that the energies of the lower and the Higher selves meet, blend and express themselves in a given incarnation”. The proper understanding of the houses provides a true combination so as to see a precise chart as in the following snapshots (Alan Oken –Soul Centered astrology pg333-

Chapter Three - The Sun

The Sun of our solar system is one of the millions of such Suns that form the seeds of this fruit which we call our space globe. Within the appointed span of time of this space globe, the Suns emerge from space through a process of chain action (evolution on the cosmic scale), live off their phases and merge again into the same depths of space through a process of disintegration, dispersal and analysis into ‘the spores of Sun’. These spores of Sun dust, which become invisible, live as properties in space until they get their next turn to serve another solar globe.

During its course of evolution, every Sun emits its own rays which are planes of its consciousness. These rays come out as planetary planes of consciousness and gradually materialize into the objective bodies of planets.

These planets live suspended like thoughts, emotions and actions for the Sun for a time and recede either into the Sun or into the background, giving place to a new set of planets in unequal and progressing periodicities of time.

Every planetary globe will be replaced by a better of its kind through the experience of the personality of the Sun. Every planet at every stage works as the centre of the lives that exist upon it. (Spiritual Astrology by E. Krishnamacharya pg17)

The Sun Sign

This sign indicates the present problem of the man, it sets the pace or the established tempo of his personality life; it is related to quality and temperament and the life tendencies which are seeking expression during this present incarnation, and suggest the activity aspect of the Soul.

The Sun in the Houses

The Sun is the ruler of Leo and the planet of the Second Ray. The Sun is the source of physical consciousness - the self-conscious I and serves to sensitize and activate the self in relation to its environment. The Heart of the Sun stimulates and enlivens Soul awareness.

The Sun functions:-

a. As a “Breath of Life”. The Sun energizes the life potential within each atom on the Personality level.

b. As Life Itself” the Sun is the divine expression of the “Will to Be” on the Spiritual level. c. As Source of consciousness. The sun functions as “Heart of Love”, thereby, stimulating Soul Consciousness.

Therefore the Sun´s spiritual purpose is to act as a vehicle for the externalization of the Second Ray of Love-Wisdom. The four primary indications of the Sun portrayed through the soul chart are: (Alan Oken -Soul Centered Astrology p252)

1. It reveals the nature of the present incarnation as regards temperament, characteristics and life energies’ expression.

2. It speaks about the nature of the personality life and the “equipment” brought in from previous lifetimes in order to live out the current incarnation.

3. It is the force-field for self-actualization so as to become Self-conscious and a creative being.

4. It reveals the Ray makeup of the personality.

Below is a brief examination of the Sun and its Soul Level Purpose in each of the twelve signs.

SUN IN ARIES - the Light of Life

This is the dim point of light found at the centre of the cycle of manifestation, faint and flickering. It is the “searchlight” of the Logos, seeking that which can be used “for divine expression”. As the “Light of Life Itself”, Aries is a pure emanation of Divine Mind—the place “where the Will of God is known”.

Soul Purpose

• To be a fertile field of fire, clearing the environment in order to initiate a new phase of the Plan. An incarnation taken with the Sun in Aries is to serve as a fertile field of fire, clearing and cleaning the mind. It is in this way that Soul-centered Aries individuals allow new ideas to be rooted so as to further the Divine Will.

SUN IN TAURUS - The penetrating Light of the Path

This is a beam of light, streaming forth from the point in Aries, and revealing the area of light control. Self-consciousness takes root in the desire nature, which must be illumined with Love wisdom so that it may be a fertile experience for the Will.

The 2^nd Ray while working through a 4^th Ray force field seeks to express itself as beauty in form, and as harmony through conflicts which arise when Light is being anchored in matter. This is why fire and earth seems incompatible to the ignorant observer.

“Taurus is especially connected to the Buddha, for just as the passion of the Christ takes place through Pisces, the Buddha is said to have been born, reached enlightenment, and died in the sign of the Bull. The Buddha taught that the path of detachment from desire is the vehicle for the entrance of Light”.

Soul Purpose

• To add magnetic attraction to an initiating idea so that matter will form around it, giving the necessary substance for life on Earth.

An incarnation taken with the Sun in Taurus has a great deal to do with the right use of magnetism. Taurus can add its tremendous magnetic qualities to attract the correct form around any inspirational idea. In this way, the fire of mind is cloaked in the substance necessary for life on Earth. This is the compatibility of fire and earth.

SUN IN GEMINI -The Light of Interplay

This is a line of light beams, revealing that which opposes or the basic duality of manifestation. Harmonizing Will and Form through intelligently applied Love is very much the orientation of this combination of energies. This is pure Second Ray, and thus produces the activity of self awareness through the blending of any opposing forces.

The Twins relates and blends diverse elements through the correct resolution of duality. Gemini and the Sun create a pure Second Ray energy field, one that permits the unification of Will and

Form through intelligently applied Love. So the Sun in Gemini brings in the harmonizing effects of Venus its esoteric ruler, the most highly evolved planet.

It is through the harmonious blending of the energies of this essential polarity that true spiritual evolution takes place in life.

Soul Purpose

• To serve as a vehicle for communicating the Law of Right Human Relations. • To be an agent for Love on the subjective level of life and use the power of Mercury objectively so as to enthrone peace on earth.

Gemini changes, mutates, adjusts, and relates everything that is necessary for the evolution of the Soul. This communicative ability is at its strongest when the Sun in Gemini modulates the relationship between the Soul and the personality.

SUN IN CANCER -The Light within the form

This is the diffused light of substance itself, the “dark light” of matter. It is the light awaiting the stimulation coming from the soul light so as to nurture form-life. The 2^nd Ray energy of the Sun expresses itself through the 3^rd and the 7^th Rays combining love with Intelligence to produce a fertile matrix for the birthing into the Soul purpose. Substance is added to Will, purpose is added to Form.

Soul Purpose

• To anchor a continuous foundation of resources and establish a network by which to distribute them.

• To create a foundation for future incarnations based on the intelligent blending of Will and Love, and the anchoring of a foundation of inner and outer resources to bring the nurturing Love of the Soul to others.

SUN IN LEO -The Light of the Soul

This is a reflected point of light, Logoic or Divine. The light diffused in Cancer focuses and reveals eventually a point. The Ray of Love-Wisdom becomes expressed as the dynamic unchanging of purpose through the First Ray Orientation of Leo.

The Sun’s 2^nd ray of Love-Wisdom becomes expressed as dynamic force and power through the 1^st ray orientation of the fixed sign quality of Leo.

The Sun rules supreme in this sign, allowing the Purpose of Life in our solar system to proceed directly from the Mind of God into the minds translating consciousness into self-awareness.

Soul Purpose

• To create opportunities for the expression of consciousness, both individually and collectively.

SUN IN VIRGO -The blended dual Light

Two lights are seen - one bright and strong, the light of form; one faint and dim, the light of God. This light is distinguished by a waxing of one and the waning of the other. It differs from the light in Gemini.

A Love-filled state, in which the Second Ray energy of the Sun expresses itself through the Second and Sixth Ray orientation of this sign. The Sixth supplies the one-pointed devotion and

the necessary strife through the energies of Mars and Neptune so that the Work of consciousness may proceed.

The lesson which the Sun in Virgo learns and teaches is discrimination in form. This quality of perception gives a Soul-centered Virgo the ability to identify what must be done to support one’s direction for spiritual growth while at the same time creating practical opportunities for the expression of the Soul on planet earth.

Soul Purpose

• To provide the necessary forms through which Love may do the work of the Healer and bring a greater sense of wholeness into manifestation.

SUN IN LIBRA -The Light of Interlude

The oscillating Light for balance to be achieved, an interlude for the expression of consciousness, a sieving point. The Sun falls, as Libra modifies the outgoing urge of Aries to manifest, as well as the fixed focus for the creative use of the Will found in Leo.

This tension is resolved through the creation of a focus of synthesis — the ability to merge opposing forces into greater creative potential for the externalization of consciousness.

Soul Purpose

• To hold opposing forces in check so that greater awareness of both the Soul and the personality may be achieved equally by all. This is usually accomplished through the expression and activation of those ideas – 3^rd Ray focus, and their distribution in society – Uranus energy, which brings about greater, collective peace and harmony.

SUN IN SCORPIO -The Light of Day

This is the place where three lights - the light of form, the light of Soul, and the light of life meet, blend and rise.

This incarnation is always involved with some form of conflict, which gives the individual the opportunity to observe and express his inner conflict for personality dominance. When the interlude of Libra is over; the Dweller on the Threshold appears.

Soul Purpose

To provide an opportunity for Grace through transformation

The transformational lessons learned through the Sun in Scorpio help to focus the individual as a catalyst for the healing of others. The ego becomes an extension of the Soul force. Strength and determination is gathered as the rewards for the intense battles that have been fought and won so that Scorpio native is ready to walk the Path in earnestness.

SUN IN SAGITTARIUS - The Beam of Direct, focused Light

Here, the point of light becomes the beam, revealing a greater light ahead and illumining the way to the centre of the light. Many influences are at work once the twofold purposes of the Higher and lower selves are resolved.

A battle ensues, highlighting this duality through the 4^th ray, which is the urge to cultivate the mind through the 5^th ray and the profound need to meet up with the devotion of the 6^th ray. As a sign on three of the Rays -4-5-6, the duality and mutability of this sign is strongly emphasized. The Fourth Ray emphasizes Sagittarius´ role as the philosophical knight, ready to create harmony out of the chaos of religious or intellectual differences.

When anchored in the Soul, the Sun in Sagittarius brings fire to its abundant, creative center, allowing for the integration of and adding strength to the many contrasting tendencies and elements.

Soul Purpose

• To gain control of the personality so that it may become the perfect steed for the soul purpose.

• To teach the ways of walking the Path.

SUN IN CAPRICORN -The Light of Initiation

This the result of the interplay between the 2^nd ray of the Sun and the 1^st, 3^rd and 7^th ray lines of manifestation of Capricorn. The Second Ray qualities of the Sun expresses through three Rays – 1 – 2 – 3 of Capricorn.

An incarnation taken in this sign has a very profound struggle but an equally great reward. Capricorn soul is able to express Love-Wisdom through the intense need for the expression of Will and Power of ray 1. “Let Thy Will be done.”

Capricorn modifies and directs the creative and active intelligence of ray 3 to enable the mind achieve soul purpose. Since Capricorn has incredible urge for control, structure, and order of ray 7, there is transformation and redirection Instead of manipulations so as to achieve the will of God on earth.

Soul Purpose

• To culminate self-consciousness in the awareness of collective purpose. • To shoulder this responsibility so that others may be supported in their efforts to serve.

Capricorn represents initiatory stage in spiritual growth where all the efforts at spiritual growth culminate for spiritual awareness. This entails even more responsibility as Capricorn occupies the hierarchy of Good will.

SUN IN AQUARIUS - The shining Light across the Sea

The light which ever shines in the dark and cleansing with its healing rays that which must be purified until the darkness has gone. The Potent self-consciousness is strongly diminished in this sign, thus the individualizing aspect of the Will is in detriment.

From the centre of Leo’s Light, Aquarius awakens into the consciousness of a transcending whole, so that group consciousness is exalted in the Water Bearer.

The search for individuality has shifted from the need to be different to a sense of unification because the emotional compulsions of the astral body have been transformed through the 5^th ray of Concrete Knowledge due to supply of pure intuition by Uranus.

Soul Purpose

• To create contacts for Love- Wisdom of the solar system to be expressed through the human mind, an act fostered by ray 5,

SUN IN PISCES - The Light of the World

This is the light revealing the light of life itself. It ends forever the darkness of matter. In this incarnation, one seeks to dissolve all separatist thoughts, feelings and actions into a universal matrix so that through human aspiration and effort, the Soul may emerge to carry more Light. The quality of this Light is Love-Wisdom, and the pathway of its expression is through devotion. Self

sacrifice allows the greater to replace the lesser, and the seed is sown for tomorrow.

Soul Purpose

• To undergo those tests of awakening which allow one to identify with the diversity of human experience while serving the Wholeness of the One Soul.

• To undergo and teach those tests of increased spiritual awareness that creates identification with the whole of human experience.

There are no words enough to explain the spiritual path. A seeker only truly comprehends part of the truth revealed to him when he experienced it. “Man, it might be stated, is the expression of seven principles and of the life expression or activity of five planes. In this 7 + 5 is to be found the clue to the mystery of the seven and the five zodiacal constellations.” (Alice Bailey, Esoteric Astrology, page426). Without the Rays we would not enjoy progressive expression because they are the custodians of the Universal plan.

The psychological application of the Ray hypothesis

❖ It provides us with a practical energy framework for understanding the make-up of individuals and groups.

“All energy within form is fundamentally SEPTENATE in character”. This energy, plus the forms derived from it, are describable through seven discrete and archetypal streams According to Master DK, the range and focus of each of the seven qualities can be summarized as follows:

❖ Ray One: Will – Purpose

Signs: Aries, Leo, Capricorn

Planets: Vulcan, Pluto

This energy is the beginning and the final synthesis - the source of all energies. It is the essence of power and energy itself. The First Ray is the force of purpose, direction, centralization and one ness, of which the will is the keynote. It is characterized by the qualities of intensity, dynamism, quickness, and dominance. It at times results in detachment, isolation and crystallization. It is of its force and directness that the power of creative destruction is born.

Aries the Initiator, Leo-Will-purpose and Capricorn - Mystery of life are the assigned triad. Vulcan is the sacred planet, its virtue being willpower.

The first ray is overruled by Master Morya. The Kingdom of the First Ray is Shambala, “the Place where the Will of God is known”.

❖ Ray Two : Love – Wisdom

Signs: Gemini, Virgo, Pisces

Planets: Jupiter, Sun

Consciousness is born in the union of duality - spirit and matter. This is the source and blending of light and love, magnetism and relationship, inclusiveness and coherence. It is the ray of wisdom, sensitivity and intuition, as well as clarity and attention to detail. This energy is a qualifying, teaching and healing force. It often results in attachment and attraction, and, curiously, establishes our awareness of fear, the antithesis of love and relationship. The Second Ray is the energy of the entire solar system and hence is also a ray of profound synthesis.

Concept: Universal love and truth, philanthropy, brotherhood, the urge to inclusiveness, consciousness, the nurturing quality which supports all life, the expression of the soul. Soul level: The urge to bring about a sustaining, loving wholeness to any group or life situation; the ability through magnetic attraction, to bring about healing, the focus for the stimulation of consciousness, and hence for greater love-wisdom, the ability to see beyond differences into unifying principles.

Gemini, Virgo and Pisces form the transmitting triad. The Sacred planet is Jupiter. Masters Koot Hoomi and Djwal Khul serve as its guiding lords. Buddha reigns supreme and through the Second Ray we learn how wisdom is born of perfect love. The Kingdom of the Second Ray is the Hierarchy.

❖ Ray Three :Active Intelligence

Signs: Cancer, Libra, Capricorn

Planets: Earth, Saturn

This is the energy of activity and intelligence, a result of purpose and wisdom. It is the energy of full and great manipulations, creativity and adaptability. Needs are recognized and plans are formulated through this force. Material is selected and business is undertaken. The Third Ray is clear, inherent mental and intellectual ideation in pursuit of truth, with the objective of manifesting in matter and substance. It is the power which evokes form.

Concept: Mental illumination, the power to produce, synthesis on the physical plane, the blending of will - power and love - wisdom to produce the forms of life.

Soul Level: The birthing of ideas to benefit humanity, the structuring of time and activities to allow for group energies to flourish. It is the Active Intelligence of Divinity and represents the inherent intelligent within all matter.

The cardinal signs of Cancer, Libra and Capricorn are the designated triad of the Third Ray of Active Intelligence. Saturn is the sacred planet.

The Venetian Chohan presides over its affairs.

It is the will to be intelligent and a radiant outpouring for creative and constructive use.

Signs: Taurus, Scorpio, Sagittarius

Planets: Mercury, Moon

This energy stands symbolically in the centre of the seven and is the magnetic relation of opposites, the point of harmony, bridging and mediation amidst conflict, pain and struggle - in a sense, the fruition the duality rooted in the Second Ray. It stimulates creativity, art and beauty and is characterized by sensitivity to colour and sound. Discrimination, quickness and a searching for perfection reside here. The intuitive, relational force is strong in this ray, which evokes life, love and understanding.

Concept: The principle of beauty existing in all things; the urge to balance opposing forces in order to bring about harmony; the art of living; the urge to achieve perfection. Soul Level: The Divine Artist, who seeks to raise humanity's consciousness through the realization of the beauty and harmony existing in nature and in the world of forms, the mediator between heaven and earth.

The sign triad is Taurus, Scorpio and Sagittarius. Mercury is the sacred planet. The Master Serapis controls its outpourings. The Kingdom of Humanity itself is under the Fourth Ray. It is the will to annihilate disparity.

Signs: Leo, Sagittarius, Aquarius

Planet: Venus

This is the energy of concretion into substance, of knowledge and science, and of stimulation in the three worlds. It leads to the searching, analysis and development of ideas, which in the end produces light and wisdom. It is the energy of differentiation and investigation which can lead to separateness, cleavage and crystallization, but the thoroughness and discrimination with which the fifth force works in the mind and the intellect leads the way ultimately to understanding and to the revelation of truth.

Concept: The vehicle of expression for the Ideas in the Mind of God, the urge to revelation through intellect, the power to express divinity through deep penetration into matter. Soul Level: Those who work to be connecting links of intelligence between the abstract world of pure ideation and the concrete world of practical application; precision and exactitude in creating those forms and invention which allow for the outpouring of Higher Intelligence. The Fourth Ray prepares for the expression of Love – Wisdom through attunement to intuition out of daily struggles, the Fifth Ray is the expression of Love – Wisdom through the intellect for Divine manifestation through the mind of man.

It is through the right knowledge that Humanity will achieve complete balance and be prepared for entrant into the Fifth Kingdom - the realm of the Soul.

Discipleship is attained under this Ray of knowledge, and it is the Master Hilarion who I said to presides over it.

Leo, Sagittarius and Aquarius are the assigned spiritual sign triad.

They also provide mankind the main characteristics involved with the evolution of consciousness. Venus is the sacred planet, which grants the will to uncover secrets, thus to gain understanding.

❖ Ray Six :Devotion – Idealism

Signs: Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces

Planets: Mars, Neptune

The seeds of all devotion and desire pour forth through this energy. It generates adherence, intensity and persistence. The determination resident in this Ray is a fiery essence, sometimes full of force, fury and even fanatical display and militant violence. The Sixth Ray is the power to recognise what is right and righteous, the upward tendency and the capacity to see the light.

Concept: Intense focus of one-pointed devotion to ideals of beliefs, the purification of the emotions by the mind, 6^th blends Rays Two and Three.

Soul Level: the urge to transform selfish and personal motivation into selfless, impersonal devotion for the good of all; the bringing about of circumstances which reorient the exclusive to the inclusive for the greater expression of Love-Wisdom.

The Sixth Ray has been the primary Ray of the Piscean Age and is the stimulator of religious devotion and idealism, but since AD 1625 its effects have gradually been withdrawing from manifestation. And the Seventh Ray energies of the Aquarian Age have been growing stronger, as they imprint their messages upon the collective consciousness of humanity.

The Sixth Ray transmits its energy through the Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces triad. Its sacred planet is Neptune, which does not really belong to our solar system but supplies us with an extra sensory gift sorely needed for the next advance of mankind. Through it we perceive the nearness of the Father. Jesus is Master of the Sixth ray.

It is the quality of relationship between spirit and matter and is thus magical. It is rhythm which builds, integrates, circulates and manifests.
