ABSTRACT
Under the impulsion of the Spiritual Hierarchy, Master Djwhal Khul has set up different projects in order to usher in the precipitation of the spiritual Plan on earth. The present essay aims at introducing His Triangle project and its significance for anyone intending to consciously further human and planetary evolution.
Esotericists know that triangle is the basic geometric form of all manifestation. Indeed, behind all forms stands the basic trinity of manifestation that is sometimes called Spirit conveying Will energy, Consciousness conveying Love energy, and Creative Intelligence conveying Light energy. The present paper illustrates how these three divine energies could be called down through sounding the Great Invocation. As a matter of fact, the latter could reach very high levels of energies and extra-planetary Beings. When sounded by three individuals mentally united, the invocative power of the Great Invocation is considerably increased. Thus the importance of the Triangle work.
The efficiency of the Triangle work rests upon the existence of an omnipresent etheric field. This field unites all manifest forms and allows the circulation of forces and energies throughout the universe. Working in triangular formations contributes to the transformation of the square patterns of humanity and the planetary etheric structure into triangular patterns. This is crucial because spiritual and divine energies move more easily through triangular formations.
Despite its highly esoteric nature and its relation with the seed-group of Telepathic Communicators, the Triangle work is accessible to anyone who wants to subjectively contribute to the advancement of the manifestation of the kingdom of God on earth. To conclude, the selflessness nature of this service activity is highlighted.

INTRODUCTION
This study comprises four parts. The first one presents the Triangle project set up by Master Djwal Khul.
The second part presents the technique of triangle per se. Since this technique involves the use of the Great invocation, a large segment of this presentation is allocated to introduce the science of invocation and evocation and the significance of the Great Invocation. It is also a question of how to use and sound this invocation. Being a very powerful invocation with far-reaching effects, the multilayer of implication of the Great Invocation is discussed. These layers include individual and planetary evolution as well as the invocation of extra-planetary Beings.
The third part presents the relation between the Great Invocation and the Triangle work. The existence of an etheric field as the esoteric factor upon which the efficiency of the Triangle work is exposed. Then, the points identified during the previous discussion on “multilayer of implication of the Great Invocation” are discussed once more but in relation with the Triangle work, followed by a presentation of some more complex triangular formations. Finally, a few more points to consider about the Triangle work are briefly underlined.
The fourth part consists of a discussion on the relationship between the Triangle work and the seed-group “Telepathic Communicators”.
Finally, a brief conclusion reviews the impacts of the Triangle work on different levels of manifestation. It closes by underlining the fact that the Triangle work is by nature a selfless service activity, for the participants may never see the results of their endeavors.
PART I – THE TRIANGLE PROJECT
This section gives a brief overview of the origin and the hierarchical endorsement of the Triangle project. It also exposes the distinction between triangle of light, energy of goodwill and the network of goodwill.
In 1937, Master Djwal Khul, (Bailey, 1978) organized the Triangle project which was intended to facilitate the circulation of divine energies into the Spiritual Hierarchy and from the Hierarchy to humanity.
“… the function of these triangles in reality is to facilitate the work of distributing the pure incoming love energy (expressing itself as light and goodwill) into the Hierarchy and Humanity.” (RI, p. 402)
According to Master Djwal Khul (D.K.) (Bailey, 1979), the project of creating a network of Triangles is highly valued by the Hierarchy.
“This is a work [Triangle work] of major importance and has the endorsement of the Hierarchy.” (DINA II, p. 39)
As a matter of fact, it is seen as an important means to implement the Plan and foster the advent of a new civilization based on right relationships.
“Right here the work of the Triangles—so close to the heart of the Hierarchy at this time—becomes obvious. Through the network which the Triangles are creating, light or illumination is invoked by the daily work and attitude of the Triangle members; thus light can indeed “descend on earth” and goodwill, which is the love of God and basically, the will-to-good, can also stream forth in fuller livingness into the hearts of men; thus they are transformed in their lives and the era of right human relations cannot be stopped.” (DINA II, p.168)
D.K. (Bailey, 1979) even puts forwards that the endeavors of all disciples and members of the New Group of World Servers (NGWS) should be based on the Triangle work.
“However, I might state that the background or groundwork of all that you may be asked to do is the Triangle work.” (DINA II, p.38)
Thus, among the Teachings and techniques He gives us, His Triangle project could be considered as a keystone in the service life of disciples.
“Those are the two major undertakings with which I present you; and these with your intensified individual approach and the work of the Triangles and Goodwill, will provide you with much to do.” (DINA II, p. 85)
One may note that He associates the Triangle work with Goodwill. In fact, He sees them as interlocked. However, one should not confuse the esoteric dimension of the Triangle work with the exoteric work of people of goodwill. On one hand, there are Triangles of Light which are etheric structures conveying the energy of Goodwill. The latter is an attribute of the energy of Love which circulates along the line of Light. Hence the appellation Triangles of Light and Goodwill. On the other hand, the network of goodwill formed by people of goodwill refers to the benevolent expression of individuals or groups of individuals caring for the well-being of others.
“The Triangle work which embodies two phases of their work, i.e., the forming of the network of light as the channel of communication between the Hierarchy and Humanity, and the forming simultaneously of the network of goodwill, which is the objective expression of the subjective influence of light.” (RI, p.253)
Further, D.K. (Bailey, 1976, c; 1979) underlines more explicitly the difference between the esoteric Triangle work and the exoteric work of people of goodwill.
“The forming of triangles of light and of goodwill concerns the reservoir of energy upon the inner and etheric side of life which will automatically and with full circulatory effect enable the exoteric work of the men and women of goodwill to make progress. It is not goodwill per se, but the creation of triangles of energy within the etheric body of the planet which are deliberately qualified by goodwill.” (RI, p. 274-275)
Disciples forming the NGWS are called up to participate in both esoteric (subjective) and exoteric (objective) aspects of the work. At first, disciples build triangles of Light on the etheric planes. That supports the circulation of spiritual energies which would stimulate people of goodwill. Then, disciples objectively work with people of goodwill at giving proper expressions to these energies in all fields of human affairs.
“In the subjective work, the New Group of World Servers will be peculiarly active, creating the network of light; in the objective work, the men and women of goodwill will bestir themselves, creating the network of goodwill. The function of the New Group of World Servers is dynamically to “force” the energy of the will-to-good into the world; the average man and woman, responding unconsciously, will express goodwill. Disciples, such as you are, must perforce work in both fields, creating and building both types of network. This you can do now, and you can form thus the nucleus of that great interwoven pattern of light and of goodwill which must underlie or “substand” all exoteric work of renovation, renewal, rehabilitation and reconstruction. I ask you and other disciples, therefore, again to work with renewed interest at the forming of triangles, reaching people who are already active, and seek to aid them in forming new triangles.” (DINA II p.38-39)
According to Saraydarian (1988), since Master Djwhal Khul gave His teaching on the technique of Triangles to humanity, it has penetrated into almost all countries around the world and has generated millions of Triangles.
Having introduced the Triangle project set up by Master Djwhal Khul, pointed out the importance the Hierarchy gives to it, and clarified the meaning of some concepts, the next section concerns the technique of the Triangle work per se.
PART II: THE TECHNIQUE OF THE TRIANGLE WORK
This section on the technique of the Triangle work presents the method and some requirements so that Triangle workers may be as effective as possible. Besides knowing how to work with energy, Triangle workers have also to know about the science of invocation and evocation and the significance of the Great Invocation. The latter occupying a central place in this work, how to use it and its possible far-reaching implications are also discussed.
A) The method
In its paper The Service of Triangles, the School for Esoteric Studies (2015) introduces the technique of Triangles as a rather simple method. It mainly consists of having three persons agreeing to unite mentally each day to invoke the power of light and goodwill in service to humanity by means of sounding the Great Invocation. It takes only five minutes a day and is accessible to every intelligent and goodwill person living anywhere across the world.
Despite the apparent simplicity of this method, and since the work of Triangle is based on invocation and creative imagination, to be effective, those participating in the Triangle work would need to have some knowledge about how to work with energy, the science of invocation and evocation and the Great Invocation.
- How to work with energy
To master how to work with energy requires a lifelong training. The purpose of this present paper is not to expose detailed information about it. Suffice to point out some basic information about this matter. Simply said, to effectively work with energy, one must become skilled in using mental substance. To a certain extent, each member of a Triangle would need to know how to invoke, direct, precipitate and use energies in service to humanity. To accomplish that, Saraydarian (1988) recommends the use of visualization, creative imagination and directed projection. More on these will be presented in the next sub-section (B) “how to use the Great Invocation”. In addition, he advises to do that work with joy and enthusiasm. That would prevent sounding the Great Invocation too mechanically. In fact, that type of positive attitude helps focus the mind on the meaning of the Invocation and increases the power of thought.
- The science of invocation and evocation
Invocation and evocation are like two sides of the same coin. Indeed, invocation is an appeal and evocation is the response to the appeal (invocation). The right application of the science of invocation and evocation establishes a relationship between humanity and the Spiritual Hierarchy.
“The science of invocation and evocation (…) is the intelligent organization of spiritual energy and of the forces of love and these when effective will evoke the response of spiritual Beings who can work openly among humanity and thus establish a close relation and a constant communication between humanity and the spiritual Hierarchy.” (EOH, p.414)
Three kinds of invocation are generally distinguished. Firstly, there is the massed demand, unconsciously voiced especially when there is a crisis or a disaster. That appeal of the masses is addressed to an outside power, a transcendent God, who should come to help.
Secondly, there is the invocative spirit of sincere men and women as they participate in the rites of their religion and take advantage of the opportunity of united worship and prayer to address their demands for help before God. This group, added to the mass of human beings, creates a great wave of invocative appeal. Both of them constitutes the general public.
Thirdly, there are the trained disciples and aspirants of the world who possess a deeper insight and understanding. They adopt a mental meditative attitude and use certain defined wordings in order to focus the invocative cry and appeal of the other two groups, giving it right direction and power. While doing so, they establish a relationship between the bulk of humanity and the Spiritual Hierarchy.
The consciously and unconsciously united effort of these three groups are evocative of a response from the Masters of the Spiritual Hierarchy and, eventually, from higher Beings. In order to enhance the efficiency of the invocation carried out by these three groups, the Christ gave the Great Invocation to the world. That was done in the context of the 1945 Full Moon of June. At that time, He announced to the assembled Spiritual Hierarchy and to His close incarnate disciples that He had decided to emerge again into physical contact with humanity. The Great Invocation is formulated as follows:
The Great Invocation
From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.
From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ* return to Earth.
From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men.
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.
From the centre which we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
* Many religions believe in a World Teacher, a “Coming One”, knowing him under such names as the Lord Maitreya, the Imam Mahdi, the Kalki Avatar and the Bodhisattva. These terms are sometimes used in versions of the Great Invocation for people of specific faiths.
The Great Invocation is straightforward and expresses fundamental truths. These are synthetically expressed in Bailey’s comments following the Great Invocation published in all her books.
“The beauty and the strength of this Invocation lie in its simplicity, and in its expression of certain central truths – the truth of the existence of a basic Intelligence to Whom we vaguely give the name of God; the truth that behind all outer seeming, the motivating power of the universe is Love; the truth that a great Individuality, called by Christians the Christ, came to earth and embodied that love so that we could understand; the truth that both love and intelligence are effects of what is called the Will of God; and finally the self-evident truth that only through humanity itself can the divine Plan work out.” (Alice Ann Bailey)
Even if everyone would not respond to the deepest significance of these truths, most would respond to the underlying ideals of the Great Invocation. Indeed, this invocation essentially synthesizes the highest desire, aspiration and spiritual demand of the very soul of humanity, and it must be used in that way. It also helps humanity achieve a condition that should be met to ensure the reappearance of the Christ. That condition requires the bringing about of the initial stages of the establishment of right human relations. Thus, everyone can aid the process of the reappearance of the Christ through the use of the Great Invocation which fosters the evocation of the three spiritual energies of Light, Love and Power.
- The significance of the Great Invocation
In order to better appreciate the significance and the magnitude of the Great invocation, the meaning of each stanza is discussed.
First stanza
From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.
The first stanza concerns the Mind of God as a focal point for divine Light. This refers to the soul of all things, the overshadowing Soul. This Soul brings Light and spreads enlightenment. When invoking the Mind of God and saying: “Let light stream forth into the minds of men, let Light descend on Earth”, one of the great needs of humanity is voiced.
Second stanza
From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.
The second stanza concerns the Heart of God as a focal point of Love. This “Heart” refers to the Spiritual Hierarchy which is a great transmitting agency of Love to every form in the divine manifestation. When invoking the Heart of God and saying: “Let love stream forth into the hearts of men. May Christ return to Earth”, we promote the permeation of humanity with the quality of loving understanding that is the expression of Love and Intelligence when brought together. When saying: “May Christ return to Earth”, we assert that we work under His recognition and that He will eventually move among human beings in a public manner.
Third stanza
From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.
The third stanza concerns the bringing about of human will in accordance with the divine Will. In these three lines, there is an indication that humanity cannot by itself grasp the purpose of God. It requires the intercession of the Spiritual Hierarchy. However, when the purpose of God influences human will, it takes the form of goodwill, and of a living determination and fixed intention to bring about right human relations.
Fourth stanza
From the centre which we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
The fourth stanza refers to the demand to anchor the three invoked divine aspects of Mind (Light), Love and Will in humanity so that it strikes a death blow to evil whose expressions are mainly materialism, selfishness, hatred and separateness. Thus, “the race of men” becomes the agent of execution of the Plan of Light and Love which is an expression of Purpose of God in time and space.
Final line
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
The final line contains the idea of restoration, indicating the keynote for the future. That will come when God’s original idea and His initial intention will no longer be thwarted by human freewill and evil. The changed hearts and goals of humanity will ensure the achievement of the Purpose of God.
One may notice that the formulation of the Great Invocation assumes there is an overshadowing reservoir of energies that can be evoked. The Great Invocation is not meant to be an invocative appeal for personal needs, but for humanity’s needs.
B) How to use and sound the Great Invocation
Saraydarian (1988) underlines the importance of concentrating upon the Great Invocation from a perspective that embodies the divine intent and summarises the conclusions of the thinking of God. He also stresses the importance of looking for the underlying abstract idea in this Invocation that is related to the manifestation of the three divine energies on earth and the role of humanity in the realization of that endeavor.
“It is apparent, therefore, that the first three stanzas or verses invoke, call for or appeal to the three aspects of divine life which are universally recognised—the mind of God, the love of God, and the will or purpose of God; the fourth stanza points out the relation of humanity to these three energies of intelligence, love and will, and mankind's deep responsibility to implement the spread of love and light on Earth.” (DINA II, p.168)
Since the efficiency of the Great Invocation, as for any other invocations or prayers, varies according to the ability to work with energy, and the ability to use the creative imagination and the power of visualization, Saraydarian (1988) gives us some practical instructions about how to increase our competence in sounding the Great Invocation through the power of visualization.
For instance, when invoking Light, we optimally visualize Light descending and spreading itself in response to our invocation, and clearing away illusions and darkness found within humanity and the universe.
When invoking Love, we visualize the Christ and the Hierarchy as the Heart of God. We see the energy of Love streaming forth into the hearts of men, creating a fundamental change within humanity that will manifest through the establishment of right human relations all over the planet. We see Love melting away mountains of hatred, war, and exploitation. We see people forming a brotherhood.
When sounding the stanza about the Purpose of God, we visualize the creation of a new world in which humanity consciously becomes a co-worker for the realization of the Purpose.
When sounding the fourth stanza, we visualize Humanity as a single center in which the Plan is working to seal the door where evil dwells.
When sounding the final line, we extend our vision and invoke Light, Love and Power without creating specific limited thought-forms.
In addition to that, D.K. (Bailey, 1979) tells us to use the phrases of the Great Invocation as: “stepping-stones“ to certain levels of abstract thought not hitherto attained.” (DINA II, p.157)
C) Multilayer of implications of the Great Invocation
The Great Invocation has very far-reaching impact that may touch individual beings as well as cosmic systems. In order to have access “to certain levels of abstract thought”, this section considers some benefits the Great Invocation may provide to individuals through the activation and linkage of their centers of energy and to the planetary Logos evolution. The Great Invocation also creates a path of communication with extra-planetary Beings whose responses may be highly beneficial for both humanity and planetary Logos evolution.
- Activation and linkage of centers of energy
When a person sounds the Great Invocation, three glands within the brain (pineal, pituitary and carotid glands) are activated. At the same time, the corresponding chakras – head chakras (will), heart (love) and throat (intelligence) – are stimulated too. Through this activation, a circulation of energy within the person’s system is created, and that generates major changes in his life.
“No one can use this Invocation or prayer for illumination and for love without causing powerful changes in his own attitudes; his life intention, character and goals will be changed and his life will be altered and made spiritually useful. “As a man thinketh in his heart so is he” is a basic law in nature; the constant turning of the mind to the need for light and the prospect of illumination cannot and will not be ineffectual.” (DINA II, p.168)
In addition, when a person sounds the Great invocation, he not only invokes the three spiritual and divine energies of Light, Love and Will, and activates his heart, throat and head centers, he also contributes to relating the three major planetary centers, namely Shamballa, Spiritual Hierarchy and Humanity.
“I would like now to touch upon some of the deeper meanings for you who are disciples or who are in training for discipleship. If I can do this, your meditation work may be useful in linking hierarchical intent with human aspiration; such should be the work of all disciples.
You will already have noted—as you have studied the Invocation—that the three major centres in our planet are linked up: Shamballa, “where the Will of God is known,” the Hierarchy, where Christ rules and from whence He seeks closer contact among men, and the centre which we call Humanity. There is a close relation between the first stanza and the final one; humanity's destiny is, as you know, to be the exponent of the mind of God, thus expressing active intelligence, motivated by love and implemented by will.” (DINA II, p.169)
The establishment of such a relation between the three planetary centers highlights the critical role humanity has to play in the implementation of the Plan of Light and Love which is in line with the fulfilment of the Purpose of God.
“This is an era hitherto only dimly sensed and which only the forward-thinking people of the world have desired. Thus through the “centre which we call the race of men” the Plan of love and light works out and strikes the death blow to evil, selfishness and separateness, sealing it into the tomb of death forever; thus also the purpose of the Creator of all things will be fulfilled.” (DINA II, p.168)
- Supporting the planetary Logos’ evolution
Another layer of implications of the Great Invocation is about supporting the planetary Logos to take a higher initiation. In fact, the Great Invocation is a labor given to humanity to assist the fulfilment of that event. If humanity sounds the Great Invocation in increasing numbers, then Light, Love and Power will meet, blend merge and blaze forth, not only in man, but also in the planet and in the universe, thus helping our Logos take Its fifth initiation. Consequently, it contributes in making this planet sacred.
“When the primordial ray of intelligent activity, the divine ray of intelligent love, and the third cosmic ray of intelligent will meet, blend, merge, and blaze forth, the Logos will take His fifth initiation, thus completing one of His cycles.” (TCF, p.45)
As the three rays of aspect merge and blaze forth, humanity will go through a process of transformation and transfiguration too. Indeed, humanity is a center in the body of the planetary Logos. While the latter is on Its way to take Its fifth initiation, Its whole body, which Humanity is part of, will eventually become sacred. This is why sounding the Great Invocation is not only transformative for individuals, it is a service for humanity, as well as for the planetary Logos in whose body human beings are living cells.
- Invoking extra-planetary Beings
The creation of a network of Light and Goodwill is done through the use of the Great Invocation in triangular formations. It aims at preparing and evoking the reappearance of the Christ, as well as evoking the energies of higher Beings. In fact, the potency of sounding the Great Invocation could eventually reach higher energies than those of the soul, the Spiritual Hierarchy or Shamballa. According to Saraydarian (1988), sounding the Great Invocation could invoke three great lords: the Avatar of synthesis who is a cosmic Being representing the center of Power, the Spirit of Peace who represents the center of Love, and Lord Buddha who represents the center of Light.
“To construct a network of light and service in every land. This is begun in the individual environment of the server, and gradually extended throughout the world. It was with this idea in view that I suggested the forming of triangles of people, pledged to use the Invocation and to extend its use through the world. It is my specific plan to help mass world thought and thus evoke the Avatar, and likewise to provide a world group through which the new forces and energies can function, the new ideas can spread, and the coming world order find adherents.” (EOH, p.312)
D.K. (Bailey, 1974) explains how the Christ contributes to the invocation of these three Avatars, by daily sounding the Great Invocation.
“Forget not, (…) that not a day goes by that the Christ Himself does not sound it [the Great Invocation] forth.” (ROC, p.34)
He then channels and reinforces the down pouring of the evoked energies coming from these higher extra-planetary Beings.
“His [Christ] outpouring love and spiritual vitality (augmented by the energies of the Spirit of Peace, the Avatar of Synthesis and the Buddha) were refocussed and channelled into a great stream, pulled through into expression (if I may word it so inadequately) by the words of the Invocation, “Let love stream forth into the hearts of men…. Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.” (ROC, p.82)

We have seen the method of the Triangle work, the fundamental role of the science of invocation and evocation, and the significance of the Great Invocation in the implementation of this Triangle work. We have also touched upon how to use the Great Invocation in order to be effective in that endeavor. Finally, we have considered the multilayer of implications involved in sounding the Great Invocation. Throughout that exploration, we can notice the figure three repeatedly coming up. That brings us to the next section which gets directly into the relation between the Great invocation and the Triangle work.
PART III: THE RELATION BETWEEN THE GREAT INVOCATION AND THE TRIANGLE WORK
We have seen that the Great Invocation invokes simultaneously the three divine aspects. Indeed, it relates the Will of the Father (God), the Love of the spiritual Hierarchy and the Service of Humanity into one great Triangle of Energies. Invoking this triangular relationship has two major results: 1) the working out of “the Plan of Love and Light” and 2) the “sealing of the door where evil dwells”. Therefore when three individuals unite their mind and consciousness, sound the Great Invocation, and visualize the down pouring of the corresponding energies, their invocative power is enhanced. All that calls forth an evocative response from higher Beings.
“The triangles of light and of goodwill are essentially invocative. They constitute the a.b.c. of the coming Science of Invocation. Their strength is dependent upon the depth of feeling in the one case, and the strength of the will in the other, with which they are created.” (RI, p.274)
In order to figure out how that is possible, we have to understand the esoteric idea behind the Triangle work. That is the existence of the etheric field. Through the use of that field, Triangle work can further the evolution of humanity, invoke higher and extra-planetary energies and forward the planetary evolution.
- The etheric field: the esoteric idea behind the Triangle work
All forms of the entire solar system have a field of energy around themselves, and that energy penetrates them as well. That field of energy is called the etheric body. It is the means of transmission of forces and energies. Triangles with their invocative nature operate through that field which ensures their efficiency.
“To grasp is the fact that the ether of space is the field in and through which the energies from the many originating Sources play. We are, therefore, concerned with the etheric body of the planet, of the solar system, and of the seven solar systems of which our system is one, as well as with the general and vaster etheric body of the universe in which we are located. I employ the word “located” here with deliberation and because of the inferences to which it leads. This vaster field, as well as the smaller and more localised fields, provides the medium of transmission for all the energies which play upon and through our solar system, our planetary spheres and all forms of life upon those spheres. It forms one unbroken field of activity in constant ceaseless motion—an eternal medium for the exchange and transmission of energies.” (EA, p.9-10)
The etheric field ties all forms together into one life. What takes place in one unit of a system, whether it is a human being, a planet or a solar system, impacts its own system and the larger systems it is part of.
“(…) the individual etheric body is not an isolated and separated human vehicle but is, in a peculiar sense, an integral part of the etheric body of that entity which we have called the human family; this kingdom in nature, through its etheric body, is an integral part of the planetary etheric body; the planetary etheric body is not separated off from the etheric bodies of other planets but all of them in their totality, along with the etheric body of the sun constitute the etheric body of the solar system.” (EA, p.10-11)
The etheric field, very far from being static, is continually moving and changing.
“(…) the whole etheric body is in constant motion and ceaseless transformation, and the energies of which it is composed are in a state of constant change and circulation.” (TEV, p.164)
Human etheric bodies and the etheric body of the planet are built of threads of force through which the energy of life circulates. In individuals, these threads are called nadis. When they cross each other, they form vortexes that are called chakras. They act as centers of reception, assimilation and distribution of forces and energies.
According to Saraydarian (1988), the pattern of energy circulation in human beings varies according to their level of evolution. An average person’s etheric body shows square patterns of circulation. Gradually, as he evolves, his patterns are transformed into triangular patterns. At first, a dim outline of the triangle appears. It gets brighter and more vibrant, and eventually, at the center of the triangle, a fiery nucleus appears around which the triangle begins to progressively revolve at higher speed. When he becomes an initiate, the whole pattern of circulation is triangular. This is so because the triangle pattern is the original pattern of the circulation of the energies of the Soul, and we are heading towards the emergence of the kingdom of the soul on earth. It is also a reflection of the spiritual Triad within which the energies of pure Light, pure Love and pure Will Power circulate and radiate. A Master has a circular pattern of circulation. The magnitude of these formations is not all the same, it evolves. In fact, it gradually grows brighter and brighter until it becomes very fiery. After reaching a stage of extremely intense radioactivity, squares become triangles and triangles become circles.
As far as human and planetary evolution is concerned, the Triangle work is meant to support the transformation of the square patterns of circulation of energy of their etheric body into triangle patterns. Such a transformation enhances the opportunity that spiritual energies reach and impact human and planetary consciousness alike.
“(…) it becomes far easier for the energies to flow through the triangular formation of the etheric body than it is to flow—as is now the case—through or around a square and a network of squares.” (TEV, p.165)
B) The Triangle work and human evolution
When individuals are engaged in Triangle work, they visualize the three triangle co-workers related via lines of light through which the energy of goodwill flows. Then, they visualize all triangles participating in this endeavor. Through invocation, they release the energy of Light, Love and Power into these energy lines. Thus, altogether they weave a network of triangles through which Light, Love and Power circulate, increasing each day in brightness and intensity. Those participating in the Triangle work may also keep in mind the fact that there are many triangular formations of energy in the universe and they are interrelated within a greater triangular circulation of force and within the fiery spheres of energy sources.
The average man builds a very faint triangular formation. Advanced disciples, who know how to use visualization and creative imagination, build more radiant and stable triangular formations. Initiates build triangular formations as beams of light through which love, wisdom and power are precipitated. But no matter on which level a person is found, he helps the overall process by constructing triangles.
It is very beneficial to place the Christ in the middle of our triangles. The fact is that the center of the triangle is a fiery nucleus around which the triangle begins to revolve. This center is the soul. Considering the Christ is the Soul emerging out of the meeting of the Spirit and Matter and the Christ sounds the Great Invocation every day, visualizing Him present in at the mid-point of our triangles creates a greater flow of energy into and through them.
“(…) as the Point within the Triangle, Christ becomes the awakener of the hearts of men, and the one who institutes right human relations by being simply what He is and by standing unmoved where He is. This He accomplishes by transmitting the energies from the three points of the surrounding Triangle to humanity. (…).” (ROC, p.84)

It is also said that the presence of the Christ in the middle of triangles largely contributes to the advancement of the consciousness of humanity on the Path leading to different initiations.
“The result of His work in the Triangle with the masses of men will be the presentation of the first initiation—the Birth of the Christ in the cave of the Heart—as the basic ceremony in the new world religion. (…). The major work of Christ, however, as far as the disciples and the definitely spiritually-minded people of the world are concerned, plus the hundreds of thousands of advanced humanity, is so to “nourish” their spiritual consciousness and life that they will be enabled to take the third and fourth initiations—those of the Transfiguration and the Renunciation (or Crucifixion).” (ROC, p.86-87)
As the work of Triangle progresses, humanity’s entire etheric pattern will progressively change from square to triangle. Humanity will live more and more in the network of Light, Love and Power. Eventually humanity will contact those triangular lines charged with higher energies so that it will receive vision, inspiration and revelation. In return, this increase of the inflow of spiritual energies will create great crises as well as greater opportunities for human and national units to go forward into greater unity, greater synthesis –not only within humanity, but also with hierarchical lives. As a result of such an alignment and integration of the Hierarchy and Humanity, all departments of human endeavor will slowly come under inspiration of their corresponding ashrams and rays. At long last, humanity will witness progress more amazing than ever witnessed in the history of humanity and the planet.
C) The Triangle work and the invocation of extra-planetary energies
The invocative power of the Triangle work is not limited to humanity. Since the entire cosmic system is based on triangles, triangular formations exist on many higher levels. For instance, there is a higher triangle formed with the three Great Beings called the three Buddhas of activity.
“(…) The [three] Buddhas Themselves form a deeply esoteric Triangle.”
(RI, p. 273)
These great Beings cooperate with Sanat Kumara. They form a triad at the center of which Sanat Kumara stands similarly to what three members of a triangle do while visualizing the Christ in its center.
“The Buddhas of Activity are the Triad Who stands closest to Sanat Kumara, the Lord of the World. They are the planetary correspondences to the three Aspects of the logoic third Aspect and are concerned with the force behind planetary manifestation.” (TCF, p.75, footnote 32).
Lesser triangles formed by aspirants/disciples/people of goodwill are related to the higher Triangle formed by the three Buddhas. As a matter of fact, they invoke a response from them. This is the way higher energies can reach lower levels.
“As humanity builds or creates the triangles of light and of goodwill, they are in reality invoking a response activity from two of the Buddhas of Activity—the One Who works through the medium of the will aspect, and the One Who works through love in humanity, intelligently applied.” (RI, p. 273)
As triangles formed by aspirants/disciples/people of goodwill increase in number and intensity, a greater release of energy will be recorded upon our planet. That energy will come not only from hierarchical or shamballic sources, but from systemic and cosmic triangles as well. In fact, triangles may invoke extra-planetary energies of very high Beings such as the Avatar of Synthesis, the Avatar of Peace and the Lord Buddha.
“In those three words—light, love and power—the energies of His three Associates (the great Triangle of Force which stands in power behind Him) are described: the energy of the Buddha: Light, for the light ever comes from the East; the energy of the Spirit of Peace: Love, establishing right human relations; the energy of the Avatar of Synthesis: Power, implementing both light and love. At the centre of this Triangle the Christ took His stand; (…).” (ROC, p.82-83)

Higher Esoteric Triangles

Le groupe ésotérique des triangles
Le groupe ésotérique des triangles is composed of triangle members interested in a deeper engagement in the Triangle work. Its function consists mainly of aligning the three planetary centers –Humanity, Hierarchy and Shamballa. Such an alignment is deemed to be invocative of extra-planetary energies.
There are many other triangular formations, for trinity is the essence of the entire manifested world. For instance, we are told that the Christ links the heart center of the earth (Hierarchy) with Sirius and Humanity, thus forming another higher triangle. Triangular relationships are also and especially found in the science of esoteric astrology which is based on the science of triangles. It is not the purpose of this paper to develop upon that matter. Anyone interested in it may refer to the book Esoteric Astrology by Alice Bailey (1976, a). In addition to that, Michael D. Robbins has been conducting an extensive series of webinars on academic studies of Triangles. It is called “The Esoteric Foundation of Triangles — meditations and discussions to more deeply understand the Science of Triangles”. Finally, it is worth mentioning the possibility of forming triangles by relating and aligning three points concerning a world issue or to invoke the soul of a nation. That practice invokes the light and love of the soul of an issue or of a nation. In that respect, Michael Robbins and Tuija Robbins have been conducting an extensive series of broadcasts that are more experiential than academic. D) The Triangle work and planetary evolution
The Triangle work is not beneficial only for the redemption of humanity. It is also a major service for the great planetary Logos, who is preparing to take a cosmic initiation. Therefore, as cells of his body, when we raise our vibration, we help our Logos carry on His great task on cosmic levels.
In more esoteric terms, let’s say that the pattern of circulation of energy of non-sacred planets, such as the earth, is square, and that of sacred planets is triangular. Therefore, the etheric pattern of energy circulation of the earth is square. It must be transformed into triangles through which the three spiritual and divine energies can flow more easily than it can between the angles of squares. Actually, the square patterns are used by dark forces to halt the transformation of the planet.
The Triangle work contributes to the building of a grid of lighted triangular substance that surrounds the earth. That grid acts as a protective envelope. Such a triangular shield may be created by projecting lines of energy bisecting square patterns of the actual earth etheric field. To show how a tightly knitted triangular etheric field could make it impossible for evil forces to impact the earth, Carpenter (2017) uses the image of a simulated grid of an electric field forming a tight grid of triangles.

The above figure 4 shows a sphere that has 9,823 points and 29,463 links in its triangle mesh. It shows an appearance of being indestructible and of being impervious to outside forces. It is easy to imagine how such a triangular structure could seal the entry of evil.
Besides the usual triangle formation, some esoteric thinkers propose different ways to organize the triangles, thus fashioning more complex triangular formations.
E) More complex triangular formations
This sub-section presents two complex triangular formations: the pyramid and the twelve pointed star.
- The pyramid
To enhance the power of the Triangle work, Saraydarian (1988) suggests building pyramids of triangles. This requires the participation of five individuals. One member stands on the apex and forms four triangles with the sides of the pyramid.
Figure 5 is a two dimensional picture. By imaginatively visualizing the central point (5) standing above the square plate, it becomes tri-dimensional and a pyramid takes shape in which point 5 becomes the apex. There are four triangles. Numbers 1, 2, and 5 form one triangle, numbers 2, 3, and 5 form another triangle, numbers 3, 4 and 5 form another triangle, and finally numbers 1, 4 and 5 form another triangle.
Number 5 sounds the Great Invocation while visualizing the four triangles formed by number 1 through 4.

According to Saraydarian (1988), this procedure would tremendously increase the power of the triangles. In that respect, he adds that it is more beneficial when the position of the apex of the pyramid is occupied by a first Ray soul who can remain steadfast and firm at the inflow of energy from the etheric body of the planet. Then, the distribution is carried out by the other triangles co-workers who could be composed of second and third Ray souls or perhaps personalities.
There is a pyramid in the Hierarchy itself. In that case, the Christ occupies the apex and the four points of the triangles are held respectively by Master M, KH, the Manu and Master R. In this particular case, even if the Christ is not a first Ray Being, as the Head of the entire Hierarchy, He is quite fit to occupy the place of the apex of the pyramid.
- The twelve pointed star
Lucis Trust uses the symbol of a twelve pointed star repeated three times as the logo for its Triangle service activity.

In his webinar of August 2018, Mills gave an extensive explanation about this symbol. Twelve is the number of completion. The twelve pointed star represents the quality of divine wholeness and integrity in the Triangle work. It is a very stable construction of four intersecting equilateral triangles which is repeated as an inner star as well as an outer one.
Members of the Esoteric Section of the Triangle work are asked to say the following mantram that is symbolically represented in the above symbol.
“In the centre of the will of God I stand.
Naught shall deflect my will from His.
I implement that will by love.
I turn towards the field of service.
I, the Triangle divine, work out that will
Within the square and serve my fellowmen.”
The central point of the symbol, the circle, represents the Will aspect of God. The disciple focuses on this central point of the star while saying the first stanza “In the centre of the will of god I stand, naught shall deflect my will from his”
Then, while saying “I implement that will by love”, the disciple shifts his focus of attention outward to become aware of the four surrounding intersecting triangles which symbolise the fourfold expression of human life. Three triangles represent the threefold personality and the fourth central upright triangle symbolizes the Soul ‘the triangle divine’.
The final lines “I, the triangle divine, work out that will within the square and serve my fellow men” is represented by the square, symbol of humanity, and that is located centrally within the star and is related to the triangle of Soul which stands behind it.
So, with the twelve pointed star, we have three levels of consciousness to work with: the spiritual Will (the central radiating point), the Soul or Love aspect (the central triangle) and the human field of daily life (the square).
F) A few more points to consider
However complex or simple the triangular structure one uses while participating in the Triangle work, there are a few points to keep in mind. Firstly, one must not think of them in terms of static forms. As already pointed out, they are dynamic formations evolving within an etheric field which is continually changing. As a matter of fact, each point of a triangle is a focus point of energy, whether it is an aspirant/disciple/goodwill person, a Master, the Christ, a Lord, or a Buddha of Activity, etc. All of them are dynamic points of focused energy.
“I wonder if you can grasp at least partially and symbolically the fact that these triangles must not be thought of as placed, static and eternally the same, or even as three dimensional. They must be regarded as in rapid movement, revolving eternally in space and ceaselessly moving onward and as of fourth and fifth dimensional extension. (…). Therefore the entire cosmic web and solar system is an intricate, constantly moving, interwoven series of triangles wherein each point of a triangle emanates three lines or streams of energy (nine in all); it is likewise responsive to and receptive of the energies—likewise triple in nature—which lie within its periphery or sphere of influence and vibratory activity.” (EA, p. 417-18)
Secondly, at first glance, the Triangle work may seem somewhat very easy, not deserving our attention. Then, when considering the deeper meaning of the Great Invocation and the Triangle work per se, it may seem too abstruse. In that respect, D.K. (1976, c) warns us about the importance to strike a balance between these two perspectives.
“I have here given those disciples who are launching this new project which is so close to my heart a new and useful hint. This work must go on. It is because the entire concept is so new and different to anything hitherto projected that it seems so impossible of achievement; the triangles project has its incentive in such highly esoteric sources that some disciples regard the work as exceedingly difficult and thus complicate, by their thinking, its essential simplicity; others regard it as the simplest thing in the world, and by an emphasis upon the exoteric and the organisational angle, they again hinder the true type of triangle being created. Disciples need to be aware of the true proposed plan and find ways to make clear the middle position between the difficulties brought forward and the simplicities which distort.” (RI, p. 274)
By the above statement, no one should be discouraged by the profound esoteric source and reach of the Triangle work. Master D.K. only asks to keep a balanced attitude and do whatever one is able to do according to his understanding and competence. The most important thing is to get engaged in this project. For, sounding the Great Invocation, especially in triangular formation, transforms the etheric planetary network, thus aids the manifestation of the Hierarchical Plan on earth.
On the other hand, it may be worthy to pay a special attention to the esoteric Triangle work and its relation with D.K.’s (Bailey, 1976, b) experimental projects called seed-groups. This project consists of training some advanced disciples to work in fusion with each other so that they might form units of light who could respond to the subtler hierarchical impulses and produce the necessary conditions to precipitate and further the growth of the Spiritual Kingdom on Earth. These units of light were called seed-groups.
PART IV: THE ESOTERIC TRIANGLE WORK AND THE SEED-GROUP TELEPATHIC COMMUNICATORS
At the Pisces 2019 conference of the group called 2025 Initiative: Preparing the Way, Kathy Newburn related the Triangle work with the seed-group Telepathic Communicators. Let’s briefly examine some basis supporting her statement.
- That seed-group works through the head, heart and throat centers which correspond to the three planetary centers Shamballa, Spiritual Hierarchy, Humanity;
- On an esoteric and deep level, the Triangle work aims at aligning the above three planetary centers;
- The group of telepathic communicators works from the plane of mind in order to influence the leaders and others;
“Group one [Telepathic communicators] can telepathically influence leading people and speak to their minds so that they may be impressed with the need which has been described by one of the Great Ones as “the loving salvage of the world. They must be lead to realise that their policies must be determined by world good”. (EOH, p. 64)
- The triangle work is done from the plane of mind in order to shape the planetary etheric structure and to influence humanity’s consciousness;
“The work of the network of light and goodwill, focussed on the plane of mind, is the utilisation of this knowledge [energy follows thoughts] in order to affect the public consciousness. These are points which should be simplified and gradually taught, and in the clearest language, to all Triangle members. The work of the Triangles is to work with the minds of men, and with a factor which is used and exploited by leaders everywhere; the effort is to impress these minds with certain ideas which are necessary to human progress. People recognise the present darkness and misery, and consequently welcome light; men are tired of hating and fighting, and therefore welcome goodwill.” (DINA II, p.170-171)
Considering the above statements, it makes sense to endorse Newburn’s (2019) point of view. However, the Triangle work should not be seen as exclusively limited to this seed-group. In fact, we have to remember that members of all seed-groups are called to become telepathic communicators while serving in the other specific group they belong to. We also have to remember that the Triangle work is a service activity that people of goodwill, who are not necessarily disciples or members of a seed-group, are called to contribute to.
CONCLUSION
The Triangles of Light and Goodwill basically consist of the daily subjective meeting of three incarnate souls in a triangular formation. Then, the triangle members, working from the plane of mind, visualize a network of Triangles surrounding the earth and sound the Great Invocation. That practice is meant to strengthen the communication between the Spiritual Hierarchy and humanity, and transform the square shape of the planetary etheric body into triangles.
That transformation is crucial for the square pattern is related to matter and is the structure of the etheric body of non-sacred planets. In the present instance, the earth is one of them. However, it is called to become a sacred planet and sacred planets have a triangular etheric structure. In addition, the evolution of the planetary Logos implies the precipitation of the Kingdom of God on earth. That requires the square patterns be shifted into triangle ones, for the nature of the soul is triple.
Participating in the Triangle work aids that long-term transformational process. Since one may never see the results per se, it is considered a selfless service done to foster the evolution of humanity and the planet. Thus, it requires persistence and faith as defined by D.K. (1976, e) “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. (p.339)
