The Raincloud of Knowable Things

Loretta Letendre

Come, drink from the Well of Knowledge

Who is ready to Receive

To walk as the Pure Not

Introduction

Within this modern era, millions of aspirants are awakening to their spiritual potential, eventuating towards the Path of Probation, Discipleship, and Initiation. Psychic interplays, energy influxes, points of personal, and spiritual crisis result in the sensory experience of the soul, who, as the mediator between matter and spirit, has undertaken the task towards the expansion and growth in human consciousness. To this purpose the soul strives to educate the newly awakened aspirant to their full life potential, in which the first lesson given is that “Energy follows thought.”

One of the most significant teachings, presented by the great seer, Patanjali, brought the world Raja Yoga, the “Kingly Science of the Mind.”

In studying Raja Yoga, inferences concerning the “raincloud of knowable things,” point to the action of manas (the substance of intelligence) as it pervades the history, memory, and possibilities for human growth. The “raincloud of knowable things” is most commonly known as the Akashic Records.

Section 1: Precipitation

  1. Raincloud defined:

The Seer Patanjali gifts humanity with the seed germs upon which the “raincloud of knowable things” finds its purchase:

Sutra 2.20: There are two realities. In the first level, things seem different from each other. On the second level, we realize that all things are one thing in that they all come from our mental seeds, from our mind. If we understand this, we can build a new world free of pain.1)

New Age Wisdom as given to humanity by Master Djwhal Khul, (the Tibetan), has gifted humanity with the Blue Books, providing many inferences concerning the “raincloud of knowable things:”

“It is that impending, overshadowing and revelatory storehouse of energy which is the immediate cause of all events on Earth, and which indicates the emergence of that which is new and better and progressively right.” (DINAII 94)

From this synopsis it becomes clear that disciples can trace the course of human history, while also gaining revelations as to the “Happenings of the Time,” plus, glean knowledge of future possibilities.

Arthur A. Powell states that the Akashic Records represent the Divine Memory and constitute the only reliable history of the world. These are often spoken of as the memory of nature, also as the true Karmic Records, or the Book of the Lipika. 2)

1.2 Purpose of the Raincloud:

For the evolving disciple, the focus of attention pertains to the healing of cleavages that separate the five vehicles of the soul expression. Begun on an individual mandate, it initially serves as an intense and often erratic process. This phase of spiritual growth recognizes cleavage between the brain-mind-soul. These will invariably lead towards points of tension and crisis meant to reveal the illusion of the self, in contrast to the reality of the soul. One of the most beneficial recourses for the disciple is the admission into a sound and practical occult school that offers a step-by-step approach to the energy and forces that link matter, soul, and spirit. Knowledge is key, yet it must be tempered with wisdom, lest the foolish and unwary find themselves overwhelmed by forces and desires lacking in substance and spiritual intent.

However, the purpose of the raincloud is much deeper than merely being placed as an avenue for self- aggrandizement. In Rays and Initiations, we learn that the “raincloud of knowable things” has a higher correspondence aligned with the Spiritual Hierarchy. Advanced Members of the Hierarchy work as custodians for the reservoir of Divine Intention, containing the potentialities of Ideas as related to the Plan and Purpose within the Mind of God. Towards this goal, the “raincloud of knowable things” also serves as a “reflector for the Arcane Wisdom, the Mind of God, the third Divine Aspect.” (DINAII 179)

Yacki Raizizun, in Manual on Occult Development adds this concerning the Akashic Records: namely that “thoughts vibrate on a lower mental and astral level, and some are significantly higher in tone and duration. Those of a lower tone will reflect the mass consciousness of the mind of the past, while those of a higher frequency will reveal the unexpressed purpose of God’s plan.3)

So, we are left to ponder, the “raincloud of knowable things,” as it relates to memory, reflection, records, Time, and a reservoir of thought.

1.3 The Akasha:

The Akasha arises from the font of Ideas within the Atmic Plan whose direction is to instill onto Humanity the purpose of God’s Divine Plan for this Ray Two Cosmos.

Without the Akasha, the raincloud would be undifferentiated and insubstantial concerning its efficacy and link to the intelligent substance of manas. The Akasha is experienced subjectively as the Form aspect of creation and objectively as the Light of God. It is the intermediary between spirit and matter and utilizes the infinite utterings of the Word as Sound. This sounding is the quality and purpose of Ray Two in action.

All is energy, and Imre G. Vallyon, in Heaven & Hells of the Mind, presents a clear and concise expose towards the elemental composition of the universe and the graduations of consciousness that accompany each of the elements.

“The five Cosmic Elements of Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Aether are the essential substances of all the forms and objects of Creation, both visible and invisible. They are both the physical substances and the subtle, invisible substances forming the Astral, Mental and Causal Worlds. Each of the Elements corresponds to the matter or substance of a plane.4)

The disciple must be cognizant of the fact that the Akasha, as Sound, and its reflection can be found in the raincloud; yet must be comprehended and discerned as to its quality and subsequent effect on the lower quaternary. (Personality, mental, astral, and etheric/physical vehicle).

In connection with the raincloud, the aspirant has to develop the power to distinguish between: (LOS 167)

Plane of manifestation Vehicle of Experience Ray
Voices of the earth Etheric/physical body Seven
Voices of desire Astral sheath Six
Speech/formulated thoughts of the mindMental body – higher abstract mind, lower concrete mindFive
Still, small voice of Christ within Buddhic sheath Four
Sounds of the Gods, the Creative WordsAtmic sheath Three
Word of Sound, the AUM Monadic sheath Two
The Breath Logic sheath One

Another key point to keep in mind is that the effects of lower manas (concrete mind) and higher manas (abstract mind) dependent upon one’s evolutionary status and degree of occult development. Higher manas involve association with the Egoic body, and cooperation with the Solar Angel, while lower manas involve experience within the mental unit, of which humanity is only now learning to understand. We think in relative linear terms based upon sensory impressions, lower-nature desires, and mental delusions. It is not until the disciple begins the long journey Home, that the mental unit is utilized for its powerful discriminatory nature.

“Today this ““raincloud of knowable things”” has condensed or brought together energies which have been made available by the Spirits of Restoration, Reconstruction and Resurrection.” (DINA II 94)

Section 2: Preparatory steps

2.0 Preparatory Steps:

The foundation for all spiritual enterprises must rest on principles establishing continuity of consciousness, harmlessness, and planned action. To this end, David Hopper in Glossary of Esoteric Thought provides a clear and concise reference explaining principles and which align with each plane, and the ultimate purpose of each principle.

“A principle is the foundation upon which all things are built and is the nature of all living forms. It represents the basic qualities, differentiations, or types of energy.”

Glossary of Esoteric Thought denotes the seven principles being developed in humanity:

Principle/consciousnessEnergetic component Vehicle of ExperiencePlane of Expression
Prana Vital energy Etheric/physical body Physical – Seventh Plane
Kama Desire, feeling Astral body Astral – Sixth Plane
Lower manas Concrete mind Mental body Mental – Fifth Plane
Higher manas Abstract/pure mind/higher mind Soul/causal body Mental – Fifth Plane
Buddhi Pure reason, intuition, wisdom Buddhic body Buddhic – Fourth Plane
Atma Spiritual Will Atmic body Atmic – Third Plane
Monad “Boundless immutable principle”Monadic Egg Monadic – Second Plane

In order to ensure that travel and experience within the raincloud are productive, several points of note must be brought forward into the consciousness of the disciple/group. Years, and lifetimes, can be spent gathering knowledge and striving to live soulfully. One measure of success in achieving occult equanimity is to apply to the Three Aspects (Will-Power, Love-Wisdom, Active-Intelligence), the basic principles that bring Causation into our lives, and which will allow the concrete mind to analyze and discern that which is bound to maya, glamour and illusion, or that which sings the Pure Note of Soul.

The Divine, in Its Beneficent Glory, has presented a smoother and perhaps more rapid way that allow all to live comfortably while becoming familiar with the impressing power of the soul and its effect on the lower quaternary. To this purpose, each aspect has been brought into simple and easily understood Ideas that can be embraced by both novice and veteran disciple alike. Let the soul be the guide and the personality the witness.

Thereafter:

Aspect One: Will- Power, relates to Life.

Aspect Two: Love-Wisdom relates to Quality.

Aspect Three: Active- Intelligence relates to Appearance.

2.1 The Etheric/physical Plane: Voices of the Earth:

The Voices of the Earth are associated with the Mineral Kingdom who sing the song of the Divine within the substance and substrate of elemental matter. This is the seventh and densest kingdom of the Cosmic Physical Universe. It contains, and maintains, the Life, Quality and Appearance of form through the promotion of the Seventh Ray, that of Ceremonial Order and Magic. The Great Deval Lord, Kshiti, presides over this plane and, along with the elementals bound to the seventh plane, all atomic substance resident in minerals hold the memory of the Spirit of the Earth and the Human Race. The basic principle of the Earth is simple: Prana provides the vital energy that nourishes, heals, and expands the etheric/physical body. The Voices of the Earth are the living embodiment of spirit encased in matter, closely aligned to the Monadic Egg via the Head Centre

Two themes dominate the life of the disciple, the first is that of the etheric sheath, and the second is that of the dense physical body. These are sacrosanct, and serve the function of absorbing, circulating, and transmitting prana in its many permutations, these being elemental, etheric, triadic, monadic, planetary, and cosmic.

When one attributes the principles of Life, Quality and Appearance to the physical/etheric body, several key points are brought forward:

1. The brain is the recording instrument of all impressions as related to sentient and phenomenal experience. From its memory deposits the appearance of life is based upon the quality of the experience.

2. Every atom is a functioning part of the Atmic plane in which the Ideas anent the Mind of God find purchase. Every atom vibrates with Life fed through a nucleus of solar energy that vibrates to the Notes of soul. Every atom offers an intelligence, which when combined with similar atoms of like vibration, conjoin to produce a concretized expression of form.

3. The deva evolution runs parallel to the human hierarchy and utilizes etheric substance to bring form into concretization.

4. The etheric body is highly sensitized to the Greater and Lesser Builders, and at this point in human evolution, the elementals work blindly in the creation of form. When the personality absorbs adequate soul light it begins to work in cooperation with the Deva Kingdom.

5. The etheric body contains Seven Major Centre’s whose purpose is to maintain equilibrium between the physical sheath and the astral sheath. These are called chakras and function as spinning vortexes in which the soul gains entry and egress into the form vehicles.

6. Each of the seven major centers is fed by a system of energetic cannulas called Nadis which enables the flow of prana to circulate and be absorbed by the etheric sheath and subsequently the dense physical vehicle.

Of particular note is the reality that when the aspirant first begins to tap into the raincloud, it will be done on an unconscious, or semi-conscious level. The resultant energetic effects will always be alluded to physical sensations and the etheric components often unrealized. Thus, it is vital for the disciple to study the Constitution of Man and the Science of the Antahkarana so that the effects of each layer of consciousness are recognized.

The three lower chakras, the base of spine, sacral and solar plexus, link the lower mind to the lower octaves of the raincloud.

The next three higher chakras, the heart, throat, and Ajna, link the higher abstract mind to the higher octaves of the raincloud.

The highest chakra, the crown, and its association with the physical brain, link the intuitive mind to the pure reason and intellect of Buddhic mind and its association with the planes of Atma and Manas.

It is of paramount importance for the disciple to accept that stimulation of the lower form nature is not to be sought after as an appeasement or confirmation of spiritual progress. Proper breathing techniques, coupled with intentions based upon apt spiritual choices will do much to guide the disciple in the right direction, lest they become seduced by the desires of the lower natures, termed, the “Kama-manasic mind,” or “desire-mind.”

The greatest threat to the mineral kingdom is the belief in humanity that form is separatist in nature, thereby rendering compassion and empathy for those who cannot speak; redundant. This separatist attitude has been defined as Maya and sets the stage for further complications concerning the evolution of consciousness.

2.2 The Astral Plane: Voices of Desire:

This plane is the sixth kingdom of the Cosmic Physical Universe. It contains, and maintains, the Life, Quality and Appearance of desire through the promotion of the Sixth Ray, that of Idealism and Devotion. Its purpose is to preserve emotive feeling within the substrate of liquid substance. This allows the energetic vibration of unconditional love to be experienced via the personality. The Great Deval Lord, Varuna, presides over this plane.

The astral plane is situated midway between the physical and mental plane. The concurrence amongst Esoterists is that the astral plane serves as a plane of reflection. Master DK states that the astral plane is not a primary principle and is in fact, illusory. However, it is an illusion of a higher scale than the lower mind can conceive.

The purpose of the astral plane is to reflect the Light of Buddhi as emanation from the Fourth Plane of Buddhi. The Master further states:

“I have said elsewhere that there is no such thing as the astral plane or the astral body. Just as the physical body is made up of matter, which is not regarded as a principle, so the astral body as far as the mind nature is concerned is in the same category. This is a difficult matter for you to grasp because desire and emotion are so real and so devastatingly important. But speaking literally from the angle of the mental plane, the astral body is “a figment of the imagination”; it is not a principle.” (EH 197)

Due to the progressive desires and massive thoughtforms created by humanity, the astral plane has become, literally, a dumping ground for the Kama-manasic mind. It swirls with an amalgamation of falsities concerning the separatist nature of man. The cause is ignorance, sloth, and greed, the effect is the creation, over eons, of a world trapped in duality laced with glamour and illusion.

Perhaps the best attribute of the astral plane is its ability to reflect light, as this allows the human energy system (etheric/physical) to become adjusted to the increased frequencies and vibrations experienced through the nature of etheric liquid and mental substance. The brain and its vacuoles must become acclimatized to the light in the head and impulses that impinge within the pituitary body and pineal gland to further promote the adaptation of light frequency into matter.

For travels into the astral realm, the disciple is asked to study the Supreme Science of Contact with its three branches. This science relates to the art of responsiveness as it correlates to the three Divine Aspects. The three sciences are:

1. The Science of Impression as a response to the First Aspect and the Will-to-Be. Here the disciple learns to discriminate between the multi-tiered system of vibrations as emitted by the Life, Quality and Appearance in the Seven Rays.

2. The Science of Invocation and Evocation as the Second Aspect reveals the attractive and impressing power and love of the soul in all forms. It guides the disciple towards the correct usage and utterance of Sound and the Word.

3. The Science of Telepathy, as the Third Aspect, deals primarily with the mind. It focuses on thought transference between all forms.

Many will focus on telepathy, for humanity is sensitive to telepathic impact via its solar plexus center, seated in the astral plane. Therefore, millions of people will have developed, and are developing astral sensitivity, as a prelude to the higher energetic experiences found on the higher mental and Buddhic plane.

“Astral sensitive awareness allows for many experiences within the Akasha. It is based upon the reactions of the solar plexus, and the entire process is carried forward upon the astral plane and with astral substance. This, in its highest form, becomes the factor which later makes intuitive awareness and intuitive sensitivity possible; then the process is carried forward in Buddhic substance. Aspirants are, at one stage of their development, strongly astral-Buddhic in nature. This should be remembered.” (TEV 51)

The astral light, as prevalent on the three higher subplanes, holds the Akasha as the recorded memory of humanity, and has surpassed the gross distortions of the lower subplanes. Here is found the Records of past life incarnations, tomes of the Adepts, libras, all far-reaching and enriching philosophical and scientific thoughts and deeds, aspects of the Divine Plan, glimpses into the future and of greatest import, flashes of Light as emitted from the Buddhic Plan. The lower reaches of the astral light offer distorted reflections, chaotic energy conglomerations, and the hells of the mind.

The astral while offering a prismatic view of the occult also presents the greatest obstacle to spiritual growth: Glamour. So much so, that Master DK has authored a book exclusively concerning this subject and the ways and means of restitution from emotional and mental negativism towards Light. (Glamour, a World Problem. Lucis Trust).

The raincloud, as situated in the astral subplanes, promotes evolutions in the consciousness by the mere fact that it introduces the seeker to spiritual phenomena and ideas that affirm a positivity towards the unknown. This is the training ground for the future intuitive.

2.3 The Mental Plane: Speech, Formulated Thoughts of the Mind

The mental plane is found on the fifth plane of the Cosmic Physical Universe. It contains, and maintains, the Life, Quality and Appearance of the Word through the use and creation of thoughtforms and resultant speech.

“Of all the planes in the Universe, the mental plane is perhaps the most interesting. It is the plane where the lower triad meets the Higher Triad, or where personality meets Spirit. More fundamentally, it is where life meets matter, where cause meets effect, and where the formless meets form.” 5)

Before delving into the mental plane, the principle of fire demands notice, as it serves for the manifestation of the Third Logos, and its adaption of manas towards the creation of thoughtforms. Lord Agni directs fire on the mental plane as both a controlling and purifying aspect, thus enabling the personality to begin the road to Redemption that re-unites the personality with the soul/Solar Angel. The fires of the mind, when correctly utilized; create, destroy, rebuild, and maintain equilibrium between the planes of form and formlessness. The three lowest subplanes of the mental plane vibrate with fire by friction, relating thoughtform creation to the coarser vibrations of speech as delivered by the indentured soul and its imprisoned personality. The middle subplane, the fourth, relates thoughtform creation to the vibrations of the soul, utilizing solar fire, which strives for group consciousness and harmlessness. The three highest subplanes relate thought creation to electric fire, promoting the will aspect of Deity through the revelation of Ideas as emitted via the Divine Mind.

It is upon the higher mental plane that the records of the Akasha ring true, and within this raincloud, the history and future of humanity stands revealed. However, the evolving adept will study and train for years, nay, lifetimes, before trusted to enter this domain and bring back to humanity that which is needed for Spiritual Redemption. Herein, the understanding of what denotes thoughtforms is necessary, lest the foolish be swept into pathways that retard rather than promote spiritual understanding.

When the Light of the Soul begins to illumine the vacuoles within the brain, and the Path of Probation is begun, that the real essence and process of thoughtform creation is practiced and understood by disciples. The greatest menace on the mental plane is that of illusion and its subsequent effect on how we think.

Illusion is found in all things that are finite and have impermanence, in which thoughts are viewed, and accepted, as a response to consciousness. Perhaps the greatest danger with illusion is that the still small voice of the soul, and its Light, is occluded and shadowed by erroneous thoughtforms. Illusion creates numerous distortions on the mental plane, and all who seek to tap into the raincloud should be aware if they are tapping into the lower concrete mind, the higher abstract mind, or the Son of Mind/Solar Angel.

Most Esoterists are inexorably drawn to the second subplane of the higher mental plane due to the magnetic pull of the second ray, and the bountiful radiance of the Solar Angel. It is here that the solar angel builds the causal body from the mental substance of the Egoic Lotus, the abode of the Solar Angel. Within this lotus three Halls are found that mark the experience of the soul and its human counterpart. These Halls contain the memory of all that has been lost through Time, all this is required in the present to move upon the ladder of evolution, and all that can be foreseen in the future regarding humanity’s path to Freedom. They are aptly termed, the Hall of Ignorance, the Hall of Knowledge, and the Hall of Wisdom.

Another key point concerns the graduations bound to thought creation :

1. Evil only exists in coarser grades of matter. These are thoughts created from a separatist nature and low-grade mental matter, ignited by selfish desires.

2. Good only exists in the higher grades of matter. These are thoughts created from an inclusive nature engendered as harmlessness and embodying all three Divine aspects in varying permutations.

3. Only high-grade matter can be used to create the causal body.

4. Accessing the Akasha/raincloud with the causal body reveals the wisdom and truth in spirit and its relation to matter.

5. Accessing the Akasha/raincloud with only the lower mental body, reveals a reflected inversion of the Idea and often, the illusory world of the mental plane.

And: “only those mentally polarized and with the mind under control can regain this knowledge if they so wish. The power to see thought images only comes through mind control, and the mind can only be controlled by the real or spiritual man. Therefore, only egoically centered people can truly acquire this knowledge.” (LOS 275)

Section 3: Highways and Byways

3.1 Psychism:

Psychism is derived from the Greek name for the soul, “psyche.” It relates to the senses and their connection, and correspondence, to the seven planes of the universe. Each sense has an etheric correspondence bound to the lower and higher subplanes. (TCF 186-202):

Physical PlaneAstral plane Mental plane Buddhic planeAtmic plane
Hearing Lower clairaudienceHigher clairaudience ComprehensionBeatitude
Touch/feeling Psychometry Planetary psychometry Healing Active service
Sight Lower clairvoyance Higher clairvoyance Divine visionRealization
Taste Imagination Discrimination Intuition Perfection
Smell Emotional idealism Spiritual discernment

Response to group vibration

Spiritual telepathy
Idealism All knowledge

Each level of telepathy is a form of psychism and entails the necessary experience upon the lower planes as the training ground towards the higher planes. Disciples may find themselves under the thrall of psychic phenomena, poorly controlled or misunderstood leading to erroneous perceptions as to what constitutes the raincloud.

The aspirant who is moving away from mass consciousness and becoming individualized begins to respond to the impressing power of the soul, who is training and guiding them to engage in mental telepathy. The evolving disciple on the path will move into group consciousness, which is soul consciousness, as a prelude to higher forms of telepathy. The initiate acting soulfully responds to intuitional and spiritual telepathy located on the Buddhic Plane.

Anyone who seeks to delve into the phenomenal world of the extra-sensory, unless properly educated as to occult law, forces and energies is subjected to the following:

“He must not lose sight of the fact that we are dealing with the lower psychic nature, which is the term occultly applied to the lower mind processes as well as to the astral or emotional reactions.” (LOS 12)

However, to all the mystics presently incarnate, lower psychism is now serving as the training ground for the awakened memory; and when taken with all due serious as to its validity, or lack thereof, it will teach physical, etheric, astral, and mental control of the sensory vehicles. This is paramount for the individualized disciple who is impacted by a massive number of energies that must be absorbed and transmitted equitably.

“All these forms of the memory faculty have to be dropped and no longer held; they must be recognized as modifications of the mind, of the thinking principle, and therefore as part of that versatile psychic nature which has to be dominated before the yogi can hope to attain liberation from limitation and from all lower activity. This is the goal.” (LOS 17)

Section 4: Tapping the Raincloud

4.1 Responsibility:

The soul’s mandate is very simple, “Harmlessness.” From this foundation all else follows in sequential Order. It is up to the student of esoterica to take inventory of their belief surrounding the Idea of Harmlessness. Questions are posited, reviewed, and ultimately kept for present and future behavior. These are harsh realities that tax the physical, emotional, and mental sheaths as the personality forges ahead to reveal the inner darkness within.

Not all thoughts are readily available, the majority are buried so deeply in the psyche (soul) that when they erupt, they automatically create a point of tension between the personality and the soul. It is the aspirant’s responsibility to bring equilibrium to the pairs of opposites that flow so freely upon the astral plane, therefore endeavors to tap into the raincloud must be met with an attitude of non-judgment, and revelations as to the how one is perceiving the contacted knowledge.

Patience is key yet oft overlooked as all phenomenal states of psychism can serve to seduce and enthrall. A firm spiritual foundation is required in order to traverse the Akasha, and it begins with the intention towards harmlessness in oneself and all group affiliations.

“A close study of one's emotional reactions brings one to the consideration of that basic characteristic which cannot be over-emphasized in view of the world's present condition. Harmlessness.” (TWM 148)

Master DK presents that ethics is synonymous with right human relations and the applying of a higher wisdom towards life convolutions. It entails group co-operation and the ability to see the reflecting mirror of the Akasha as illusory. Right human relations are focused on respect for all peoples and their varied cultures. It also holds accountable the evil in the world and its effect on the three lower kingdoms of nature. An infinite amount of records flow within the Akasha that may never touch humanity, lest the result equals the effect of the atomic bomb. In the following passage, Arthur E. Powell presents a stern injunction towards this mandate:

“The accurate numbering of the records is possible only after careful training. As we have seen, mental sight is necessary before any reliable reading can be done. In fact, to minimize the possibility of error, mental sight ought to be fully at the command of the investigator while awake in the physical body; and to obtain these years of labor and rigid self-discipline are necessary.”6)

4.2 Dangers:

There are several dangers involved with the raincloud, and it is often only through the school of hard knocks that the operator can see the error of their ways. To this end, the following transgression must be addressed:

1. Maya, glamour, and illusion.

2. Traveling alone.

3. Enthralled in lower psychism.

4. Malignant energies preying upon the uninitiated.

5. The Dark Brotherhood.

6. Lack of mental control and acuity.

7. Selfish desire and greed.

8. Failure to discern vibrational tones.

9. Silencing the Voice of the Soul.

10. Imbalance in the etheric sheaths.

11. Ignorance of Occult Laws.

12. Mediumship vs. Mediatorship.

13. Lack of discernment regarding the Reflecting Ether.

14. Lack of intuitive perception.

15. Premature kundalini awakening.

16. Imbalance within the group purpose.

17. Ignorance of the White Magical Process.

18. Ignoring the role of karma.

19. Ignoring the Dweller on the Threshold in all its guises.

20. Poorly constructed Antahkarana.

“The student will often recover from his sub-consciousness many memories of things he has learnt in the past, and these he may be inclined to look upon as of the nature of revelations. so foreign are they to his normal consciousness; it is unlikely, however, that the student at this stage of his career would be reading from the “ Akashic Records,” he is much more likely to be exploring the depths of his own sub-conscious mind, whose wealth is far greater than he suspected.”7)

This list may seem extensive; however, the distortions upon the lower planes continue to grow in both number and volume, so it remains to the wise to use their knowledge to discriminate that which is Real and the mirror of the Real.

“You have the ability to read in the astral light but frequently no ability to differentiate between that which is past, that which is, and that which will be. Therefore, you have illusion and inaccuracy.” (TWM 86)

4.3 Wisdom:

Wisdom is a result of experience, knowledge, and ultimately good judgment. In relation to mundane life, we are given every opportunity by the soul to transform knowledge into wisdom, thus enriching and modifying the etheric substance within the permanent atoms. In this mandate, knowledge and wisdom are divided into two distinctive categories:

KNOWLEDGE WISDOM
The Science of Matter The Science of Spirit
Separative and objectiveSynthetic and subjective
Divisionary Unites
Differentiates Blends, inclusive
Theoretical Deals with the life side of evolution
Discriminative Perception and comprehension
Force expression Energy in action

It is when the disciple begins to address the spiritual purpose of the lower quaternary, having established a healthy antahkarana, that the knowledge garnered through the ages may be transmuted into wisdom. One careful consideration to be noted is that amassing an abundance of knowledge upon the Path of Return in no manner assures wisdom in action. Energy hoarded or exploited does not an adept make.

Wisdom is closely aligned with the Will, Purpose, and Action of the Monad, who is training its personality vehicle for future occupation. To this degree, the mental plane serves as the piercing arrow for manas to shatter, reveal and regenerate the lower quaternary. As the psychic powers of the disciple/group grow in volume, the collective wisdom of the group ensures a deeper penetration into the raincloud where the memory of all history resides. There is a stark contrast as to how one deploys knowledge to achieve a concrete manifestation, verses that of wisdom, which more often than not, sacrifices the material so that the shining light is revealed.

Millions of people are becoming etherically sensitive and finding themselves drawn onto the astral plane, where a chaotic tableau of desires and thoughtforms addresses the separatist needs of any and all. It is becoming increasingly dangerous to encourage and support low-grade psychism and mediumship. Master DK repeatedly warns that the doors to lower psychism must be closed by all disciples until the third initiation, for the quantity and quality of mental matter is still inferior to the task at hand.

Wisdom at times can be harshly applied, and there may be a reluctance on the part of disciples to shy away from the tough decisions needed to break concretizations in thought and matter. Yet, these are necessary decisions in order for the transmutation of self-consciousness into soul-consciousness.

“As an occult student progresses, instead of assisting individuals only, he learns to deal with classes, nations, and races. As he acquires the requisite powers and knowledge, he begins to wield the greater forces of the Akasha and the astral light and is shown how to make the utmost possible use of each favorable cyclic influence. He is brought into relationship with the great Nirmanakayas, and becomes one of their almoners, learning how to dispense the forces which are the fruit of their sublime self-sacrifice.”8)

“When a man can detach his eyes from all that concerns the physical, emotional, and mental, and will raise his eyes and direct them away from himself, he will become aware of “the overshadowing cloud of spiritual knowledge,” or of the “raincloud of knowable things,” as it has also been translated.” (LOS 208)

Section 5: Restitution

5.0 Restitution

Restitution comes only with a review of past lives, present choices, and future goals. It involves “the restoration to the former or original state or position.” 9)

Primarily, the personality, as a sub ray of the soul ray, must be energetically re-absorbed back into the body of light which is soul. For this to occur, New Age Wisdom supports a mentally polarized effort that teaches sound and moral occult practices.

We delve into the Teachings of the Past, harken to the Teachings of the New, so that our uncontrolled, and controlled, forays into the worlds of formlessness engender knowledge related to healing the cleavages embedded in the human psyche.

Master DK has given touch as a First Ray attribute, that of the Destroyer, which is wielded by The Finger of God. In terms of correspondence within the various planes, touch aligns with the emotional or astral plane and upon its highest correspondence, astral-Buddhic consciousness.

“Touch is that innate recognition of contact through the exercise of manas or mind in a threefold manner:

As recognition.

As memory.

As anticipation.” (TCF 99)

Thereafter, we enter the Akasha to touch God, while also using our self-directed will to destroy all that hinders progression upon the Right-Hand Path. The records are read, then deserved accreditation, and when seeped or shrouded in glamour and illusion, must be brought to Light, as a focus of healing upon the Planes of Human Endeavor.

“Each one should ever remember that he was initiated because in past lives, and perhaps in the present one, he has helped the world to a certain requisite degree, and it is hoped that he will continue in that path and become an ever-larger channel for the life of the Logos. It is because of the probability of his increased usefulness that he is admitted to Initiation .”10)

5.1 The Past

Many people seeking to access the raincloud do so for personal reasons that qualify from purely selfish, to bringing understanding as to how past lives relate to present behavior. All past lives provide roadmaps pointing to karmic obligations that must be addressed for the soul to radiate effectively as brain consciousness. The raincloud will provide the intimations necessary to alter the energetic disturbances in the permanent atoms.

The whole trend of evolution is to bring about the ability to build on mental matter, and two especially important factors must be addressed:

“First. The gradual dissipation of the indefinite masses of Kama-manasic matter which surround practically every unit of the human family, producing a condition of murkiness and fog within, and around, each aura. Gradually this will clear away, and men will be seen surrounded by clear-cut thought forms, characterized by a distinctive vibration, and distinguished by a particular quality incident to a man's ray and therefore to his type of mind.” (TCF 491)

Secondly, C.W. Leadbeater, in The Masters and the Path, speaks of Right Memory, or Right Remembrance, as the Seventh Noble Truth of Lord Buddha. It relates to avoiding distractions, clouded states of mind, will introduce humanity to the memory of past incarnations and offers awareness, mindfulness, and thoughtfulness.

When the mystery of the past is revealed, the observer has the opportunity to dispassionately step away from the Kama-manasic mind and, with scientific analysis, re-view the Cause and Effect of past actions. A non-judgmental manner, plus the analytical process of the lower mind, coupled with the discerning process of the higher mind, will reveal much in the way of karmic obligations and group purpose. The Lunar Lords work in conjunction with the Four Lords of Karma who are tasked with bringing retribution and opportunity to all who heed the Call of the Soul.

“We are told that love will grow in the trials and tests of life. We think of the tests to which the Lords of Karma submit all forms of life on our planet, and we realize that Their purpose is the revelation of love.” (IH S 91)

It would be a disservice to these higher beings to delve and troll the astral plane for anything other than redemptive purposes. Calling forward the past is certainly not about having been a “Jesus Christ” or great “Seer.” Nor is it about searching for excuses that condone present selfish behavior. And least favorable are those lining their pocketbooks through the tears and desperation of the many seeking solace in this turbulent world.

5.2 The Present

The soul has a unique placement in the present. It must deal with the convolutions of Time and Space as it strives to stimulate its incarnated reflection. It is group consciousness, and to all travelers this points to a note of caution towards any who deem themselves more powerful than the soul. Many new age aficionados speak of the “moment of Now” as being present in the arena of soul consciousness, however, in esoteric terms, the Eternal Now replaces the former platitude.

The Eternal Now is an amalgamation of the triadic energies; existent in the past, the present and the future, where time and space cease to prevail. This state of consciousness is far beyond that of many advancing disciples yet should serve as a reminder that to engage the “moment of Now” as being all things present is self-deception.

As the disciple enters into group formation, and the group begins to enact contact with the higher powers, entry into the worlds of formlessness becomes more viable. However, it is the wise disciple, and group, who realize that all thoughts, feelings, and actions are envisioned through the filter of the mind, and the brain’s ability to sustain higher frequences of energy.

All visions as experienced within the raincloud must be dealt with in the “clear cold light of day.” This demands a dispassionate and sincere review of the vision. The discriminating powers of the mind must be brought forward and the following steps used to analyze the vision:

1. The group will appoint a leader well-versed in occult law.

2. The group antahkarana must be stable and well-maintained.

3. The group will only seek visions aligned with the service goals of the NGWS.

4. The vision is to be analyzed with the lower concrete mind, qualified with the higher mind, and devoid of all emotional chords.

5. Is the timing right for the release of the Idea to the masses?

6. The group will further delve into the raincloud, if intuitively guided, to grasp more pixels of the Idea as envisioned.

8. The group will address maya, glamour and illusion as it pertains to:

a. The individual disciple.

b. The group forum.

c. The Idea within the raincloud.

“Esoteric knowledge is not intended to drive your spiritual life into greater and increasing subjectivity; the goal is not a more inward life and a training which will make of you a true introspective and consequently a pure mystic. Exactly the reverse is intended; all that the disciple essentially is upon the inner planes has to become objective; thus, his spiritual livingness becomes an everyday affair.” (DINAII 109)

5.3 The future

The future concerns “prevision,” which are flashes relating to the Divine Plan. All people have at one time or another in their lives gained a sense of prevision in the form of dreams, intuitive knowing’s (yet unaware), and through all forms of telepathy. The masses shrug off prevision as a quirk in consciousness, while conversely, many grab onto the idea that they are gifted or special in their ability to tap into the raincloud and bring forth future events. Ofttimes, these are unawaken and gifted mystics with higher psychic abilities, trapped in the Kama-manasic mind, who have silenced the Voice of the Soul, and missed an opportunity to step onto the Path of Discipleship.

Needless to say, to these the path to Redemption remains open, as all are Worthy and Equal in the Eyes of God. Prevision involves the utilization of the Ajna (third eye) as it casts its penetrating beam into the substance of the Akasha.

Master DK brings clarity to the use and nature of prevision:

“Initiation concerns the future and involves prevision.” (DINAII 193)

Moving steadily towards personality-soul fusion, our visions take on a more serious note. Here, prevision offers glimpses into the functioning world of the Ashram and Spiritual Hierarchy. These instances spark the imagination of all things spiritually possible, and what it means to be a disciple on the Path of Initiation.

“The occult writings frequently refer to vision as a moving point, advancing towards a progressive revelation of divinity. The whole concept is, however, relatively very simple.” (DINAII 193)

To this point, prevision impresses upon the will aspect of the disciple/group, who in seeing into the future, waits with fortitude and patience for events to unfold, neither boastful, nor engendering attitudes of entitlement that preclude psychic gifts. To tap into the raincloud and see into the future demands due diligence on the part of the seer, who for the most part embraces the knowledge accessed with compassionate dispassion.

In this connection, initiation might be defined as embodying three recognitions:

a. “A recognition of the end of a cycle of happenings, i.e., retrospection.

b. The recognition of the appearance of an eventual yet imminent cycle, i.e., prevision.

c. An acceptance of initiation or a recognition of its occurrence, i.e., the present attitude.” (DINAII 194)

It must also be re-membered that all future events are transitory in the larger scheme of the Solar Logos. When a future vision is brought into concrete manifestation, it must be released and allowed to flourish in order to impress upon human consciousness. The attitude that one is special because they have the ability to tap into the raincloud and foresee future events must be abolished to the realms of illusion, for as the Eternal Now expounds, nothing is below another, nothing is above another, all are Equal, yet fractured in frames of Time.

“As time progresses, and our consciousness expands, we shall enter more and more into a knowledge of His plan as He is working it out and shall eventually be in a position to collaborate with Him in His essential purpose.” (COA 21)

Conclusion:

Tapping into the “raincloud of knowable things” is no small matter. My personal journey of awakening has presented many insightful visions to which the concept of soul as an entity and group consciousness eluded me until I found Master DK. Below is the experience which brought me the awareness of the formless worlds as both a training and teaching ground:

Vision (2005): I am within a black galaxy, stars abound, and my spiritual guide is present. We are holding hands and seeming to float through space. We approach a Cosmic Bridge with a gentle arc, spanning out in front of us, the length immeasurable. This bridge is constructed of some sort of white material I am not familiar with. We approach and begin to walk across the bridge. At one point we come upon a huge structure, resembling a Grecian Temple. It has very tall, wide carved doors full of strange symbols. We both stop near the doors, and they begin to open, revealing a foyer and dais at the entry. Upon the dais are three thrones occupied by three Great Beings, massive, with a biblical countenance, they are very stern in both demeanor and appearance. The spiritual guide smiles and I know I am to enter alone. I just stare, feeling intimidated and well, small. Then they begin to communicate in one voice, telepathically. They ask me in a no-nonsense manner,
“How do you deem your astral travels?” Then they state with a booming voice and energy that is powerful to feel and behold: “Many come into the realms for no purpose other than recreation.” Another impression comes into my mind - that there is little learning being done here (the astral plane) from us (humans). I feel awed and humbled. Telepathically I relay, “I am here to learn.” Then they smile. We are dismissed and my guide and I leave, crossing back over the bridge.

From this encounter, I learned that we do not travel alone and there are Beings who oversee and witness the progress of humanity. I feel a profound sense of gratitude towards my Master, Djwhal Khul, who revealed the New Age Wisdom Teachings to Humanity.

“Eventually, all these powers will be recognized and used by the man. These potencies and realizations are called in The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali by the interesting name of “the raincloud of knowable things.” These “knowable things” will eventually drop into the conscious aspect of a man's nature and become an integral part of his intellectual equipment. Finally, as evolution proceeds and the ages pass away, they will drop into the subconscious aspect of his nature, as his power to grasp the super-conscious grows in capacity.” (EPII 217)

Worlds abound, all are Known

Each one leading to My Home

Return to Me, with Candle Bright

Soar through winds of Starlit Night

Hearken to the Teachings of Old

Let your senses heighten

To the Teachings of New

For they speak My Words

And these Words, are Love

Moment by moment the journey continues

And Light is ushered in to fill the Void

Each Thought, Creation, becomes the Journey
